Do DVC members get anything special...

When they go on a Disney Cruise? Talking about trying one with DH the other night and thought I'd ask. We are trying to figure out whether we want to use points or not...

The time we went and used out points we received a DCL beach towel and a couple of pins for members only. The 7 day cruises also have a member gathering with a giveaway to those who attend.

They no longer give the beach towles and pins but you do get a nice lanyard with a plastic ID pocket. They do still have the member gathering and we received mouse pads, pens and really nice, embroidered baseball caps. They also did a giveaway with prizes for answering DVC-related questions.

They used to give a beach towel to DVC members using their points to cruise. On our first DCL cruise in 1999 we received two of these towels.

Now the return cruiser gift is a very nice beach towel but these are different from those given to DVC members way back when.

I had heard that you can go and get the perks at the member gathering even if you are on DCL paying cash. Can anyone confirm this for me?

We cruised on cash last September and we did go to the member gathering and receive all of the previously mentioned DVC "stuff"...hats, T-shirts, lanyard. We were also given a bag for answering a trivia question, even though we didn't get it right!

They leave an invitation in your "Fish" (those who have cruised will know what I mean). They only give it to those who cruise on points - they have no way of knowing who is a member paying with cash.

We had a great time - cocktails (at 10am), hats, lanyards, sand pails and shovels for the kids, etc.....

Yes, you can. The DVC Member meet will be listed in the Navigator. Even if you have paid cash for your cruise you may attend.

This is a good thing to know- and I am so glad I come here and read these boards! DO I have to let them know I'm coming to the meeting, or do I just show up? I want to go when we do our cruise in Jan. This will be the first meeting I've been to! What else do they do?
