Do DLR Dis'ers Park Hop or NOT?

No, it will not disappear in one day.

I wash my hands well several times a day and if you are riding a ride with a black light you can see the previous days stamps. I've even been able to see a couple of days worth towards the end of the trip.

If you are hoping between parks you will need to get your hand stamped as you leave park 1, even if you do not intend to go back to THAT park. This is to prevent ticket swaping. Person 1 going to Disneyland and then leaving giving ticket to Person #2 who then goes to DCA.

Hmmm that's interesting...:scratchin I don't remember ever being asked to show my DL hand stamp upon entering DCA. They just ran the ticket through the machine, it made the whistle noise and I was allowed in. There were a couple of times going back in to DL that I had to show my hand under the light so they could see the stamp. At any rate, if people get the stamp, then they don't have to worry about it either way. :)

I have an AP and I still get a handstamp anyway, just in case. On Jan 1st and 2nd, it was so crowded they did check for handstamps on APs too.

During the ladies trip in early March, even as an AP holder I was required to get a handstamp on leaving DL one day. They were expecting such big crowds that *everyone* needed the stamp.

And no they don't always check. It's a "just in case" handstamp for normal ticketholders and AP holders on really busy days. If something seems awry, or if it gets really crowded, they will check.

So just get it. It's actually easier to just get it than to wave the stamper away from your hand. Everyone has to pass by the CM with the stamp, so just put your hand out as you go by.

Can you get a fastpass from DL and then head over to CA and get another fastpass there or do you have to wait until the first one is used?

Thanks

You can do exactly that since the systems are not connected. We follow hydroguy's rules.

You don't have to use any before you can get more. Say you get a FP for Indy, your return time is 10-11, you will be able to get another FP after 10, but you do not have to use your Indy FP until anytime after 10. So you could go back at 5 pm and use your Indy FP, they do not expire. :) And yes, you can hop and have FPs from both parks. :)

We sometimes hop, but if it is, it's to DL for the evening. Usually we set a day to sleep in and still show up at DCA for its opening. But then we go over to DL for F! or the fireworks. I guess it is just easier for us to stay in the same park the whole day mostly because we grab a lot of FPs and want to stay nearby for when the time frame opens up. I know you can used them after the printed time window, but we still try to use Fps as soon as we can.

I'm not sure I would pay extra for it at DL, but for our 1st trip this summer to WDW we purchased the PH option because we already know that we will be hopping around.

:lmao::lmao:

The return of this thread made me go back and read what I had written 2 1/2 years ago. Back then we didn't hop very much. Now we hop like crazy! Also, we do not try to use FPs as soon as we can anymore!:rotfl2:

We are mad hoppers! We got to DL for magic morning - ride in tomorrow land, hop to adventureland and grab FPs for Indy and ride Pirates, then grab FB for HM and then ride HM (or ride then grab FPs depending on the timing) By 8:40 we've ridden Space Mountain, Buzz about 5 times, Pirates, and HM and scored 2 FPs for later....

Next we hop to DCA and are at the gate at Grand Californian entrance (where we stay) by 9:15 and in line for Toy Story Midway Mania at 9:30 waiting for the rope drop. (oh, send one in your party to Sorin' for a FP for later then hot foot it back with your group)

Next I could bore you with our FP strategy for DCA :goodvibes. We usually have 3 here by Noon. Then relax in our room for a couple of hours and hop again without fighting lines.

Waahh...I want to be back...

Keep in mind we were there at MAX occupancy...

Tip * it doesn't matter what FP you just got a DL - the computers are not tied together :thumbsup2

OK, so your party is in line at the rope outside of the Grand Californian (by Grizzly River Run). One has taken all the tickets left to Soarin' over California (about 3 min away) and is now back with the FPs. At the bottom of the fastpass you just got it will tell you when the next fastpass if available to you.

You will be escorted back to TSMM by a cast member starting around 9:45 arriving shortly before the park opens at 10 am. Ride TSMM three times in a row (If you'd like) because there is no FP for this awesome ride and the lines won't be any shorter until about an hour before the park closes. You should be at around 10:30 am right now.

After your third spin, take all the park tickets and go to California Screaming and get FPs. Ride in the SB line if you want to (about 20 min this time of day).

Next head to Hollywood. When there ride a ride, see a show (might I recommend Muppets 3D?) until it's time to get a FP for Tower of Terror.

Here is what we bagged in one typical morning and then went back to the park to enjoy them after siesta and dinner.

I think we used the Soarin' ones around 7 pm, followed by TOT, then off to Screamin' and in line for TSMM at 8:45 pm or so (40 min wait then). Got three rides in before 10 pm!

First, the escort back to TSMM is at 10:00 exactly. It's when the park opens.

Second, there is NO way to get 3 rides on TSMM in a row before 10:30. If you are one of the first ones in line for TSMM you might get 1 ride in before 10:30 and be in line for the second one. 3 rides is unrealistic for just about any period during the year.

Other than that, sounds like a good plan.

Not that you are calling my a fibber but the first line from the DGC entrance starts marching back at 9:45. Anyone who isn't in the first wave is stopped there at the rope for the 10 am drop.

We were the first ones on the ride by 9:50 am on 12/28. We were on for our second ride by 10:05 (the other line wasn't even back yet) and on for our third after a 20 minute wait at 10:30. So yes, it is possible and we did this on three days on our vacation so I pretty much had the timing down. (my camera time stamps and I took a non-flash picture of our score each time)

We were off by 10:45 all three days after three rides on TSMM. We moved right along up and down the stairs and through the gift shop between rides.

The line from the main entrance does indeed start moving at 10 am. Being at the GCH gives you a head start.

Hope my tips help someone.

Wow, ok I've never heard of this before, so sorry for the accusations. My statements were based on a normal guest's experience. Has anybody else ever experienced this? Also, how early did you have to get to the GC entrance to be the first ones there? How many people did they take back there?

Now I'm curious! :)

We got at the GCH entrance at 9:15 am which is maybe 10 min earlier than need be. This entrance is for guests of the hotel (although they never checked for our room key). At 9:30 am they sent us through security and we entered the park. The only attraction open at this point is Soarin'.

One day we actually went and road Soarin' first and by the time we got in line for TSMM (probably just after 9:45) the first group had already been escorted back and we stood in line at the rope by Grizzly River Run until 10 am when they simply removed the rope and there was a free-for-all hoofing it to Paradise Pier for the attractions back there. :scared1:

We much preferred the escort with a leisurely walk back right into the line. It was also the best strategy if you wanted to be one of the first on California Screamin' because as soon as it's 10 am it's open too and you are almost right next door after you get out of TSMM.

Here's a Hint (Shhh no tell anyone else)... Tell the CM's that you have PS reservations for Ariels Grotto at 9:45. They will let you through, then wait at Ariels till you see the mad rush of people then run for Toy Story... Don't go too early then will make you go back to the ropes...

Please tell me more about this. :yay: This will be our first time at DLR, so please bear with me. From what I know, I'm supposed to be waiting by the park turnstiles, lets say at 9:15 am or earlier. Then they will let us in at 9:30 am and I'm supposed to walk to Soarin to get FP. Where do I go from there? Where am I supposed to find this special line?

Thanks :goodvibes
