Do Disney characters still swim in the resort pools ?

We stayed at the Wilderness Lodge in 1999, our first visit to the resort. Around 1:00PM daily , Disney characters would swim with the kids. The kids had a blast, I took some great photo's.

I have not seen or heard of this since. Does it stiil take place?

In all of my trips I don't think I've ever seen the characters swimming in the pools.... sounds like it would be fun for the little ones however!

Over 30 visits to WDW Resorts and never saw characters in the pools! Were they "face' characters? I cannot imagine swimming in one of those costumes yikes!

I've never seen or heard of this. I'm also interested in knowing what types of characters swam in the pool. I can't imagine any of them getting their costumes wet!

We have been swimming with Pluto and Max and Goofy. Pluto and Max were with us at the Poly in the summer of 2000 while Goofy jumped in at Blizzard Beach last summer. I was shocked when I first saw Pluto jump in. He came over to the pool and acted like he was going to jump in but I thought no way would he. Well, when he did, you would have thought he was a rock star with groupies all around him. It was so funny. My daughters, obviously, loved it. Now if I could only find those pictures.

That would be really a thrill to see. Guess we'll have to spend more time hanging around the pool just in case they come by for a dip!

Last May Goofy was hanging out at Blizzard Beach in his swim trunks. We were floating around and he was wading by in the water and shaking hands and waving. He kissed my friends hand, and it was the highlight of her trip. Never had seen that before.

Pluto was swimming at the Wilderness Lodge. He was in his normal costume, no swimming gear. It was really cool!

(but those costumes must be awfully heavy when wet!!!)

Growing up, we went to Disney every year from the first year it opened. For a number of years, one of our highlights everyday was when Goofy or Pluto would come over to the Poly or Contemporary Beach waterskiing! They would then walk onto the Beach and meet all the kids. I have not seen this in years though.

I don't remember seeing them but barely on the 70's at River Country I saw Goofy and when we are waiting for the Ferry from TTC I saw Pinochio and Donald doing some water ski

It's been years but we did see Goofy and his minder swim at the Poly pool and then go water skiing on the lagoon. only saw it once but the kids had a ball.

I would love to see that - it would be so cute! I have seen them waterskiing in Seven Seas.

And riding horses at FW.
