A CM posted a few days ago and said they got both a discount and MB's.I think it brought the price down to low 60's per pt(don't quote me on that though)
We bought in the year 2000 when I was a cast member. We got MB and my 35% discount so it was quite the deal. Part time cm at TDS get 20% (or at least they did - I'm no longer a cm) after 3 years they go up to 35%.
I've often dreamed of working as a part time CM at TDS. However, once I found out that they didn't allow any time off between Thanksgiving and New Year's, my dream died a quick death That's my very favorite time to visit WDW and I just can't give that up for a job!
CM's only get a 15% discount on DVC. Yes we are able to get both MB and our discount.
As for getting a job at a Disney Store. more and more stores are closing every day so.. its not a piece of a cake to get a job at one.
to my knowledge the CM discount for DVC has never been 35%. If it were, I would imagine everyone that ever decided to buy into DVC would try and work for Disney at some point.
MrsDon is correct, more and more stores are closing, so there are fewer and fewer positions available and more Cast Members with experience trying to be transferred into those positions.
In addition, it is my observation that those that come to work for the Disney Store for the discounts don't last very long. Working retail is not as easy as most think and Cast Members take a pretty good bashing from some of our Guests, as has been evidenced on these very Boards.
In the 3 and 1/2 years i was a cm, i added on twice and used my 15% plus MB, my point cost was as low as $48 a point. I agree with the previous cm posts. This is not a job to be taken lightly. The blackout periods keep you away from wdw from oct/jan, and sometimes during the Easter season too. You would need your permanent ID to get the discount; it must be faxed to DVC and those take awhile to come in.
