Do certain "noises" bother you after awhile?

In OHIO???? You don't know the half of it Firedancer:rotfl::rotfl: Were you hearing them "live" or just on TV? They sold tons of them here and we had lots and lots of live playing during games and for hours after wins. It was fun but a tad annoying at times too.

Mostly on the television but they have, very unfortunately, made it over to some local sporting events. Granted they are in a much smaller number but after listening to it on TV during the World Cup just the sound of them is like nails on a chalkboard.

I just thought of one.. being next to somebody who smacking/cracking their gum... For me..this is the MOST annoying noise I can think of..and also so rude of the person who is doing it.
Its not just the occasional cracking of the gum. For example, standing in line in the grocerystore, somebody behind me, chew chew, snap, snap, crack crack..chew chew, crack crack snap snap...Do people not realize how rude it is?? U want to snap/crack your gum...fine do it in the privacy of your house or car..but most of DO NOT want to listen to it, when it is continious

For me, it is somebody chewing on ice. I can't stand the crunching noise, it makes my skin crawl and I get REALLY upset after a little while to the point that I have to move away from the person doing it if they don't stop, LOL!

I agree with both of these! I hate it!

Two sounds bother me in particular: the sound of plastic packaging being crumpled (omg that just sends me right over the edge; my family has learned not to crackle that crap around me, lol).

The other would be my boss' typing on her dinosaur of a keyboard. The last 6 days at work have been heaven because she's been out on vacation; she's back today and I'm about to defenestrate myself due to the nonstop typing!!! :headache:

I find the sound of my tinitus (ringing in the ears) to be most annoying. So pretty much most white noise is soothing to me.

100% silence, for me, is very much loud. Feels like someone is playing a very high pitch in my ear 24/7. Kind of like the old emergency broadcasting test signal.

I have the same thing, and silence is the worst!!

We went up to Lake Michigan over the July 4th weekend and stayed in a friend's cabin near the lake. We ALWAYS bring our sound machine with us when we go anywhere. Well, I forget to pack it this time. :headache: It was soooo quiet there at night that I couldn't sleep. The noise in my ears kept me up!! I'm considering getting another sound machine that just stays in the luggage at all times so that we never forget to pack it again!! :lmao:

Just outside the house - treefrogs. They chorus at night -all night- and it is LOUD!

This I like - as well as listening to the big bull frogs down at the lake.. I like most of natures sounds - except those big, black crows that are so noisy in the morning.. Those I could live without.. LOL..:goodvibes

The sound of computer speakers when they are turned on and there's no sound except for this high pitched static sound. DH can't hear it but it drives me NUTS.:confused3

Something I really don't hear, but drives my sister batty is when we're at Peet's coffee, they bang the coffee filter to knock the grounds out. I honestly don't even notice it! But she does.

OP - I'm with you, I don't like loud fans.

I don't mind the ceiling fans, but the exhaust fan in the kitchen and window or stand fans drive me crazy. DH and DD have to use window fans and DD insists on a stand fan even with AC on. I can't sleep that way.:)

I love an open window and the sounds of nature also - and also HATE the darn crows!!!!!!

we also have a mouthy cat that "complains" about everything. If that goes on for too long (when DD brushes her) it grates on your nerves.

Darsa, you crack me up! My DD always threatens to defenestrate some one or other kid who's making her crazy, but I haven't "heard" anyone else use the term in ages!

I have never heard this word before, but "defenestrate" is now my new favorite word!:laughing:

Windchimes! There is never any peace with those things rattling in the wind.

:rotfl: This was my "word of the day" for like a month a while back; I use it whenever I can! :thumbsup2

I agree with this!

I know this sounds awful but I absolutely can't STAND the sound of DBF eating cereal. He usually eats a bowl at night before bed and he will eat it in the living room alone while I am in the bedroom because I finally had to tell him that it drove me crazy! LOL

I have a slight hearing loss in one ear but only at certain levels. I always have a rushing noise in one ear and hate being in silence. I have to have a noisy fan on or can't sleep.

We had a perfectly good ceiling fan in our bedroom. DH likes it on at night. It had a faint "hum" that drove me BONKERS! DH did not notice it and did not want to replace it since it wasn't broken. For my birthday, I bought a Hunter fan and told DH that was his gift to me:goodvibes

He grumbled, but he finally installed it and it is quiet!!

I am so happy with my "gift". I was terrified the new fan might also "hum!"

The funny thing is I am totally deaf in one ear and I could still clearly hear the hum even when pressing my good ear into the pillow...

I hate the sound of people chewing their food!! AAARGHH! :headache: I don't understand how some can be so loud while others chew and you don't even hear it. I guess mouth-smacking makes a difference in that too.

As for sounds around the house, I hate it when I can hear someone clipping their fingernails/toenails. Even when I'm upstairs and they are downstairs, I can still hear it. Oddly enough, the noise doesn't bother me at all when I do it myself. :confused3

My cat has the most irritating meow. I want to strangle her little grey fuzzy neck sometimes.

The sound of paper bags or candy backs, the sound of letters being opened. There is just something about anything paper related being opened or crumpled :headache:

Windchimes! There is never any peace with those things rattling in the wind.

Uh oh! That's another sound that I really like..:guilty:

Just turned the a/c off again for awhile.. It's been on pretty much all day today (was 78 when I woke up this morning and just kept climbing from there) and I've reached my limit.. I'm ready to tear my hair out! :headache: I'm going to "try" to keep it off until I go to bed and just use the ceiling fan for now..

People chewing gum like they are cows. So annoying :headache:

And sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep, I can't stand the sound of my sister's typing or texting.
