I've seen Tom Cruise, Brett Farve, Joe Perry and Steve Tyler in the parks, walking - not waiting in line for rides.....

I'm glad there's a VIP policy - I would not want to have to walk through a huge crowd just to get to the Flying Dumbos.....

I would have stood in stunned silence, unable to talk or move if I had seen Steve Tyler. How long ago did you see him? I wonder if he's due for another trip?

DH and I took the Keys to the Kingdom tour last fall and our tour guide told us that they get to make a list of their top 3 celebrities and when/if those celebrities come for a visit that guide is chosen to show them around. I thought that would be worth all those hours on your feet for sure!!

I think we saw some basketball stars making a commercial at MGM last year. There were tons of cameras, backdrops, and lighting and they kept bringing the 7 dwarfs on and off the "stage". I don't know what that was about.

They better have to stand in line. Sorry, I'm one of those "not into celebrity" types, I don't care who you are, you buy a ticket, you stand in line like everyone else. I won't even go off on a diatribe as to why we continually put celebrities on a pedestal.

DS and I saw Brett Favre and his family being escorted by a CM into the exit of Dumbo. I remember it clearly because I walked into a parked stroller while checking him out!

In December I saw Harry Hamlin and his daughter being escort to the exit of Goofy's Barnstormer to get on.

If they are a big time celebrity, I have no problem with them going through the back of the ride. These people get interupted every 5 minutes no matter where they go.

We had the feeling of being a celebrity once. We did a tour where we met Peter Pan at the end of the tour. He asked the group if we wanted to go on "HIS" ride with him. He then pushed my son through the park and we rode "HIS" ride with Peter Pan. We didn't wait in line, and that was pretty cool. Not to mention everyone was taking pictures of us, because Peter Pan was pushing my son in his stroller and then got on the ride in our ship!. I wonder how many got their pictures and tried to figure out who we were!

not at WDW, but at the Atlantis about 10 years ago, dh and I were staying in the same wing as Michael J. Fox (and his wife, son Sam and what looked like a couple of nannies and 2 infants)... it honestly was not fun for us. We were always thinking "are they in the lounge?" (it was like conceirge) and we'd get nervous, but were trying to look like we didn't care. Stupid, i know, but we couldn't help it. We didn't approach them at all, but it was just too nerve-wracking. When we got home and told everyone, a friend said "why didn't you invite him into your room for cheese and crackers? He probably never gets invited and would have been glad to come." We still laugh at that!! 'oh michael, come eat cheese and crackers w/ us strangers on our hotel bed, ok???' LOL!! the funny thing is, our friend is dead serious! we crack up everytime we think of it!

I am This is bringing back so many memories. Living in NY I used to see celebs all the time but I am notorious for not knowing who they are. I have more than once had an elevator door open and been staring straight at some celeb or another. The 2 funny ones were- Jerry Seinfeld and Sam Kinison(spelling that wrong I think) Sam K. looked at me and said "well you getting on or what?" And once we were in Boston at a hotel and one of the NKOB was getting married. Now I was not a NKOB fan but my sister was - so I was determined to get a photo. The elevator opened and there stood 4 of them. (meant nothing to me and all I could get out was "so where is Marky Mark?"- the only one I would have cared to see. and I was drunk enough to ask)One time I was walking and chatting with a guy that had commented on my son. He was talking away and I was thinking hmmm this guy seems familiar. We happened upon my friend and we said our goodbyes nice chatting with you ect ect. Then my friend looks at me and says "How the heck do you know David Hyde Pierce?"
Now back to the question. I have not seen any celebs inside Disney parks(at the pools yes- parks no) I think I get why they would want to move it along for crowd control. I personally wouldn't care if Johnny Depp wanted to cut but maybe I would if it was somebody like Luke Perry. So who decides who is an A list star and who is not? Now that would be a funny job! Sorry Mr. Trump you'll have to wait in line with Milania and the rest of the regular folks

Becky2005, this story is for you: I was out with friends and they said, "Isn't that Carl Lewis???" (Olympic running medalist) I argued with them that it wasn't. One of my friends went over there and introduced himself. I introduced myself, "Hi! I'm Kim! It's nice to meet you, but I don't believe you're Carl Lewis." (Yes, I was tipsy). He and I then proceeded to argue for about 45 minutes about politics. The next morning, I woke up and thought to myself, "You know, I think that WAS Carl Lewis!" Haha!!!

All that to say that even if I ran into a celebrity, I would question myself AND them!!!

While waiting by the exit of Test Track last year, a big group went by me with a tour guide. I thought "that looks like Steven Tyler, nah it can't be." Then 2 girls came running by with their cameras and I knew it was him. I went inside to see him and they were letting him in the exit of that virtual reality ride in there. My kids were complaining about the guy that took their turn!! I went to take a picture and one of his entourage came up and said "Please not when he's with his kids." I didn't take any more but I was thinking "yeah, like when in my life am I going to see him again without his kids?!" I got a fuzzy photo from about a mile away. I went outside to take a picture of him coming out but I was so nervous I had the view picture on and it was too late by the time I got it reset. The next day at Typhoon lagoon (or was it BB) they were interviewing and filming some football player looking guys so I took a million pictures in case they were famous! Still don't know who they were...

I, too, am one of these folks who doesn't recognize celebs until someone points them out to me. When I see someone out of their "place", they just don't register in my brain... all except for one celeb-

Tammy Faye Messner (Bakker)!! She lives here in Charlotte, and I have seen her several times around the area I live (apparantly her daughter lives very close to my neighborhood). Well, most celebs look different without all the makeup, etc- not Tammy Faye! She has the full on "look" all the time. Mascara, wigs, lots of base and eye shadow- the whole 9 yards.

She really is very nice- and very tiny! She's barely 5' tall and really thin. Every time I've run into her, she is sweet. Hope her health is better soon!!

It depends on the level of celebrity. If someone like Madonna is there, you know she's gonna have an escort. But I know that Taylor Hanson (from the band Hanson, who is now indie) went with his wife and son and had no escort at all. He said that some people did ask for autographs but it wasn't much of a bother because he is not a huge star so crowds didn't form around him and the pics/autographs only take a minute.

I would not mind if a celeb skips, I'm sure they are not doing it to avoid waiting in lines, they just don't want thousands of people taking pictures and asking for autographs. So, they chose the entertainent industry - why should they be punished for wanting normal downtime when not working.

Come to think of it I saw Neil Patrick Harris from Doogie Howser about 15 years ago whne he was real big. And Buzz Aldrin. Both were in the line for the Animation Tour like normal people.

My brother, SIL and me were in line for Splash Mountain once and there were 3 people in front of us, two guys and a girl. They turned around and asked us if we would take their picture. So my SIL takes their camera and aims to take the photo, but then she puts the camera down and starts going "Oh my god!" "Oh my god!" and dancing around and giggling -- My brother and I were CLUELESS as to why she was doing this...and more than a little embarrased cause she looked like an idiot...then she whispers really loud..."They are on General Hospital!" -- My SIL is a General Hospital fanatic, but I had no idea who there were. It was hilarious and so weird seeing her SO excited and us having no idea who there were...and I STILL don't...they were SUPER nice, took their picture with my SIL, chatted with us the whole time we were in line, gave my SIL an autograph and one of the VERY cute guys gave her a big hug and thanked her for being a fan. She made a total fool of herself though and I take glee in
teasing her about it to this day!

Tom Cruise made a big thing about mental health medications and how they aren't necessary and how all you have to do is eat right (or something like that) and he especially went off about post partum depression and how it isn't real and how drugs aren't needed and he criticized Brook Shields, who wrote a book about her bout with post partum depression. He was like a crazed man when Matt Lauer interviewed him about it. Really ANGRY. -- Thing is he doesn't know one thing about what Brook Shields went through...or what ANY pregnant woman goes through for that matter. - I haven't thought much of him since myself and I used to LOVE him.

Brooke for her part, politely told him basically to mind his own business.

I agree to a point that it could cause a disruption or draw a crowd...but a lot of these people mentioned aren't "super" stars. I think that when you accept a high-profile, high-paycheck job in acting or entertaining there are privacy prices to pay. There are trade offs to any job, and every entertainer knows that when they accept that obscene pay. Just like a football player knows that he could get a life-long injury...
People need to "get over" themselves. If they want to visit a vacation destination with their family, they should get in line with all the other familys. If they need extra security close by for comfort, they should bring their own.

To think that people in high profile occupations should simply get in line with other families is just not realistic. It's not that some of these high profile people wouldn't want to, because I'm sure there are some that would love to simply go to the store or do what other people do. But the problem comes when other "CROWDS" of people feel that they can intrude on their lives. And these intrusions tend to cause big comotions which make it difficult for those in high profile positions to "get in line" as you suggest; which is beyond them simply getting over themselves. Based on your comment and it's tone, I'm inclined to believe that you would be the first to complain if a star was in line, got mobbed by everyone there, which held up you and your family from getting into the park. I'm willing to bet that you would suggest that the star should've gone in through another entrance.

If anything, I take my hat off to those in these high profile positions that recognize "what comes with the job" and how it affects society. And better yet, take the necessary precautions so that others are not negatively affected by their popularity.
