Do cabins become available?

I swear I was looking at a cruise for September 2018 a few weeks ago, and no ocean view cabins for five were available, only verandah. Then I checked last week, and they were available again. Now they aren’t.

Does this happen, or am I mistaken? Could they become available again, or do I need to book the verandah now?

If I book the verandah, and the ocean view becomes available for less, can I switch without penalty?

Yes, they can become available if people cancel, or move to a different cabin themselves. There is no way of knowing if another WILL come available again, however they COULD come available. If you have something that you want, you have to grab it when you see it.

It's also worth a call to DCL to see if they have some, but are allocating them to a OV rate. Also, sometimes you'll get lucky and something comes up that wasn't there previously.

If you are set on cruising that particular date, i’d book the verandah. If an oceanview opens up again, yes you can downgrade for the lower fare.

Agree with this. You lock in the price for all categories based on your booking date. So if you book today, October 23, then on December 20, an OV opens up, you get the OV rate on October 23, not December 20. You can do this up until the PIF date.

People cancel cruises all the time. Being September some people might be canceling because of what happened this year with the hurricanes. Some people cancel because they might not be getting the ot they thought they were going to get. Lots of reasons why people cancel.
