For our trip this weekend, I am hoping that I can check in and get the rental car from the MCO Avis while hubby gets our luggage (we are getting in at midnight so we want to save as much time as possible). Can I just show them his driver's license so he can be one of the drivers, or will he have to show up in person? We are totally new to car rental, so I am pretty clueless!

Hi inkkognito- That's what we did last time we went. The person at the counter said that my spouse could also drive the rental car with no problems or any additional driver signatures needed. Hope this helps.

We just rented from Avis last week (not in Orlando, though).

My name was on the rental confirmation, so of course they wanted to see my driver's license. As I handed it over, I told them I wanted my husband to be an authorized driver and they said "oh, spouses are included, no extra charge."

My husband was standing there and tried to give them his license, but they said they didn't need it. So I don't think you'll have a problem.

Thanks! Looks like we will be able to save a little time by splitting up when we arrive. I'm hoping we'll be in the hotel and snug in our beds by 1 a.m. as we want to hit Typhoon Lagoon at 10 a.m. the next morning...every bit of time that we can save the night before will help :D
