I have been getting salon French gel manicures for about a year now. It's 40.00 which I can stretch to every 3 weeks. I would like to try the at home versions to save some money. Would like some recommendations (good or bad) of do at home brands and types you have tried.
Thanks

I have the Red Carpet set from Ulta. I got it for Christmas from DH last year and I think he paid less than $40 for it (he's good at getting a deal). I use it a lot & have gotten quite good at it; I can easily make a manicure last 2 weeks+. My nails usually grow out before they chip.

The secret, IMO, is to use very, very thin coats. I use 1 coat base, 3 coats color, one coat top, with an led cure after every one.

Difficult to do cleanly.
Recently tried their non--led gel-like stuff. Good for a weekend but then began to chip.
Funny, when I was a teenager my nails didn't chip that quickly with regular polish!! ( and I am 48-- and we never where chipped polish; if u chipped it all came off & u did it again. But I didn't do my nails but once a week typically!)

I have been using the Sensationail at home kit for about 2 years and love it. No complaints. You can buy it at Wal-Mart. I can get 2 weeks from a manicure.
