Do any other parents dread sending their kids back to school?

I don't really know why I feel exactly the way I do, probably a lot of reasons, BUT, every year I dread sending the children back to school! Our oldest is entering 4th grade & our youngest is entering first.... First & foremost, I'll really miss them & secondly, we're really in our summer routine & it's really hard to let that go...

Any other parents out there feel like that? Or, is it just me?!

Me too! I already did and I do kinda like the free time with DS because he dosen't get as much time alone with us as she did.

I've always hated the end of summer. Ever since I was a kid. My kids seem to have inherited that trait. :(

I do. :( I miss my DS9 terribly the first couple of weeks of school. Not only is he adjusting to it, but I am also.

This AM, DS4 and I saw him onto the bus. The bus starts pulling away and DS4 starts crying "don't go, don't go". I guess he's just like his mom -- teary eyed and missing his older brother.

Well, the fighting is worse this year, so not as much, but the summer routine is nice (particularly since I get to work at home during the summer!) I certainly like the relaxed pace of summer a lot better - letting them sleep in, deciding what we are going to do that day in the morning. I am not looking forward to drilling them on spelling words and math facts and waking them up and making sure that lunch money and permission slips are sent in on time, etc.

I've been there since Aug. 12 my only childs 1st day of 1st grade.....I went from full time mommie to taxi in 2 seconds.......i'm still bummed about being home all day by myself but thankfully I have places like this to whine about it until I figure out what to do with my time.

I don't want to get a job and miss out on all of the stuff at school but I don't want to live at the school either.......kinda a catch 22 lol

I definitely do!!! My DS starts next Tuesday and I believe I'm more upset than he is. It's just that whole school routine thing along with the extra activities, homework, projects, etc.

I love when he is out of school. Even though I work full time and don't get to spend the day with him, it's still nice to know we can stay up a little later or he can sleep in. No fighting about getting up and moving so he's not late for school

Oh yes, I dread it!

I dread it as well. I love the relax summer atmosphere. Now I enter into soccer practices, school homework, I'm the President of our school PTO so all of that work, plus getting my girls up earlier then their used to in the summer. I do work full time so it's not like I spent the summer days with them. EIther way, I dread sending them off to school on Monday.

Oh wait, I will be at the school for the first day helping out with the first day of school festivities;) we have a community breakfast and then fun activities for the day.

I love the summer and hate to see it end! We always take it easy during the summer and don't sign up for any activities. Once school starts, then it all hits.....homework, dance, soccer, CCD, etc. The school year is very busy for us! I love the summer relaxation!!

:teeth:

I dread writing the tuition checks, which I had to do this afternoon.

I can't WAIT until September 7th though. :p

Heehee! WHEW, thought I was the only one! I'll be doing a dance at the bottom of the driveway on Monday morning. Buh bye! <<---------Bad Mommy!

It's funny, I always dread the last day of school, but then I dread them going back as well.

My son is entering middle school this year, so I have much more dread than normal!!! He's small and different than most boys, so I am so worried about him. I love summer, since there are no homework struggles at night, I really dread those.

My dd is going into 3rd grade, and she's excited, so I am not worried about her, but I will miss her. I have been working from home all summer, and I am so used to it, I don't want to work at my office desk anymore.

I sent DD9 back to school yesterday and all I can say is I absolutely HATE it!!!!!!! I LOVE having her home where I can control what is happening to her. Kids are soooooooo mean especially girls! I am already looking forward to the winter and spring break!

I did have a hard time this year. Our oldest started Kindergarten--a much bigger step than another year at preschool

Maybe when our 3rd starts kindergarten I will be celebrating, but it was really tough to see the first one off!

Not really, since it's not that much different for me. During summer she's at daycare while I work. During school, she's mostly at school, at daycare before and after. A lot more of a change for her than for me.

I hate homework! DS, who is 13, has a neurological disorder, and is taking all pre-AP and GT classes and it's such a struggle. I don't like having to do an evening's worth of work once I've already finished a day's worth of work.

NO WAY!

Today was the first day I had some time to myself in seven weeks (since the kids finished their summer day camp). Of course, they're only in preschool 3 days a week until 1:00pm so it's not too bad.

This morning I got to shop for antiques, choose tile for my master bathroom, choose paint color for MB, pick out a new curtain rod and buy some new flowers for my garden. I was in HEAVEN! :flower1: :daisy: :cloud9:

I love having my kids home. I love the summer. We're really low key in the summer - few activities, sleeping in, going to the shore, just hanging out at home. I hate to see summer end, and I really miss my kids when they go back to school. :(

I am SO glad I am not the only one! When I posted this, I thought everybody would think I was nuts  I'm so glad to find other parents feel the same way!

We're so laid back in the summer, but once school starts, as someone else pointed out, it's back to homework (and getting DS to do it), soccer, dance, strict time schedules & the typical woes that go to being in a school where not everyone is so nice :(

I'm a little worried about the poster who said girl's could be mean, that scares me, as so far, our DD, entering first grade has only had good experiences!

Oh, I also agree with the poster who said she dreaded the ending of school and the beginning of school, same here!

School here has been in for three weeks already but we were both ready. DD is in the 1st grade and was extra excited because she is in gifted this year. I was also ready ( I am an assistant manager in a school lunchroom) because I figure the sooner we get there the sooner we get out!!!! Actually we were both getting on each others nerves and were both bored.
