Do any of you "share" meals??

A regular adult meal at a table service restaurant is usually too much for me so it just makes since to share with one or both of my kids. Do any of the rest of you do this and are you embarrassed to do it? It's not that I'm being cheap (well maybe a little) but I hate wasting all that food with how expensive it is. Also, do you order water to save money?

DH & I share meals all the time. We like to eat 4-5 course meals so we can sample alot of the restaurant's offerings. The only way we can do that is to split each course. We've never had any problems doing that, in fact most of the time when we explain what we like to do, the dishes come out split already for us.

In April, I went on a gals trip with my buddy who also likes to taste, but not eat too muc. We had the same great experiences.

I am not embarassed at all to do this. Maybe that's because by the time we eat all our courses, we have spent as much, if not more than if we had each ordered an entree.

I don't order tap water because FL water makes me sick. I get bottled. But there's no reason you can't order water if you want. Lots of people do.

No, we do not... we usually order our own separate meals.. if he orders an appetizer, which I usually do not, I might have a taste if he offers it.

We always have coffee at the end and if he has dessert, which I try to avoid also, I might taste it, but as far as the main meal, no we do not share it.

As far as water is concerned, we may order a bottle of still as I would not drink the tap water in FL.. I do not drink it at home either, we have bottled water here.

DD8 and I have about the combined appetite (and weight) of an average adult. She prefers adult food to kids menu fare. We often share meals at a restaurant. DH and I, not so much. But, if DD wants something off of the kids' menu and we find an appetizer and entree we want to share, we'll do that. Other times, we'll pick two entrees we both like and share them. (I usually don't finish, but DH doesn't mind having some extra most days!!)

We share meals all the time and I've never encountered a problem with it. I just double the tip to allow for the price difference. I don't think the server could care less as long as an appropriate tip is left.

We also order water, not to save money, but because by the time we eat I'm usually sick of soft drinks! I know the Fl water seems to bother a lot of people, but it doesn't bother me at all.

Our family often does that. It's not the cost that bothers us, it's the tendency to overeat because the food is so good and the portions are huge. Our only negative experience was our last time at 9 Dragons. Don't get me wrong, the food was delicious as always, it was just that we noticed that they had cut down on their portion size on their family dinners. We had previously ordered the family dinner for 2 for us and two DDs. It used to be plenty of food but this time we noticed that they had cut way back on their entree portion. Of course this may be a direct reflection of the DDP, cutting back on portion size since they are not making as much $$, even though we never do DDP. We always share our steaks at Concourse with our girls. They tend to have huge portions there, easy to split. They will even split everything for you in the kitchen prior to bringing it out for you. :)

::yes::

We do this as well. My husband usually orders water if the place serves Pepsi products. Either that or a beer.

DH and I have split meals every trip we made with the exception of our Honeymoon 12 years ago. (We were on the very first Dinning Plan and didn't know how much food we were going to get. Breakfast, lunch and dinner every day. WOW!)

We don't do it so much because of the cost but because neither of us eats all that much on vacation. We usually just order one Appatizer and one entree and tell the server we are sharing. Never had a problem with it so far and they are ususally very nice about it and split it for us.

Dont be embarassed by doing this, seems like Disney is use to it. :)

My Dh and I usually don't share, But we have three kids and 2 usually share and I share with the other. My kids eat terrible on vacation! We also will feed the kids something in the room before we leave for dinner and then let them order dessert.

DW & I share almost all of our meals -including counter service. WDW has always been great about splitting the meals or giving us extra plates, etc. We do it so we don't get too full to enjoy stuff like ice cream cookie sandwiches, dole whip floats, chocolate cake at Mainstreet Bakery, Tusker House carrot cake, etc.--a list that grows with every trip!!! And popcorn--lots of WDW popcorn! I order ice water at most locations, only because too much soda causes me physical problems I'd rather not deal with. We also fill a large water bottle with ice cubes at the resort & carry that around with us to the parks. For some reason the ice seems to taste better than the tap water to us.

We always share counter service meals. It's just too much food! I hate to see it go to waste. We always end up with extra counterservice meals and we get it to go on our way to the airport and have lunch or dinner in airport or on plane. Works out great and save alittle out of pocket $.

We share CS meals (none of us are huge fans of burgers and chicken) because it would be a waste of food if we didn't, and we share TS meals as well - for those though, we often all order something different and then we just make our own family service so we all get to try everyone elses meals!

I always share a meal with my 10 year old daughter. Don't see a problem with sharing - we are paying for it, aren't we?

BF and I usually get our own meals when we go out to eat but at Disney I think we are going to split CS meals so we can eat more often during the day and so that we can try more CS places at the parks.

We have split starters before but I think this time we will split a whole lot more!

I remember the Rainforest Cafe having HUGE portions, I only managed to eat about a quarter of mine!

Plus we're going with our DD1 this year and I don't fancy feeding her the sort of junk that I've seen on children's menus, so it might be best for her to have some veggies or salad off my plate whenever possible... I'd hope nobody minded us doing that!
