I'm hoping to secure a points reservation for two nights at VB in early December. Since my guests have never been to VB, I'd like to be sure we have a balcony - so that we can sit out there and stare at the ocean. No oceans in Minnesota, just great big lakes, LOL! Do I really need to request a balcony or do they all have one? If there are only a few ocean view rooms that don't, I'll probably just take my chances and only request an upper floor.

Also, does anyone know where the smoking rooms are? Are they all on the same floor or are they scattered throughout the Inn?

Are the beds double sized or queen sized?

TIA for yor help!

As far as I know, they all have balconies. We always stay in a corner room and I don't think the balcony is as big as if we stayed in a room that directly faced the ocean.

I was told all of the smoking rooms are in the north part of the 2nd floor.

I believe the beds are queens.

Have fun.

For future reference, and trips if just 2 of you are going, there are a few Inn rooms with a King size bed. There are two of these on the fourth floor (2415 is one of them). There may also be two on the third floor, but I don't know for sure. Because of the shape of the rooms (they are located on the corners of the center section of the tower of the inn building, they are equipped with a king size bed and a sitting area with sleeper sofa, easy chair, coffee table, and a small, single drawer storage chest.:D

I was thinking of this and thought I would share. It's kind of funny.

Of all the times we have been to VB you think we would learn.

Part of the door frame on the door to the balcony sticks up and someone in my family always manages to trip over it and end up flat on their face on the balcony. The first time it was my kids. Both had scraped chins. The other times it was me. My DH will always call me out on the balcony to look at something in the ocean and I'll go running out there and trip on the bottome of the door frame.

No big deal, I just was thinking of this and thought it might prevent someone else from doing the same thing. We always remind our kids to step over it when they are going to and from the balcony.

I thought it was just our family  but the CM who delivered room service last time said she sees people do it all the time and then come down to the gift shop for band aids.

Thank you both! The info about the king beds is good to know. Those rooms sound very nice!

Floridafam - Hope you don't mind. I laughed a little at your last post. I can just see ME running out to the balcony and falling flat on my face. No one eer said "Grace" was my middle name!

Thanks again. We're looking forward to our trip.
