I have quite a few LE pins and I was wondering if all LE pins increase in value over time. Also are there some cases when open editions increase in value? I'm still kinda a newbie when it comes to pins. I'd appreciate any help :thumbsup2 ! Thanks!

No, not all LEs increase in value. If you have an LE 5,000 it may have lost value. Value is subjective based mostly on how many people don't have it and want it. Normally the lower the LE size, the better the chances, but still no guarentee. The other major factor is the pin subject. Tinkerbell, Stitch, Haunted Mansion, Pirates of the Carribbean are better than say Happiest Millionaire, Fox and Hounds, Oliver and Co.

E-bay is sometimes a helpful barometer, but don't rely on it too heavily. Sometimes people bid excessive because they don't know what to do with their $$.

Pinpics may be a better gauge, but still not perfect. Take a look at the # traders/# who want. The closer to 0, the higher the pin value. My threshold level is 1. If the number is greater than one, then it's not a great pin to have in my trade pile and I'll use it for lanyard fodder. The problem with this method is that a number of people registered in pinpics do not keep their pin traders/wants up to date.
JMHO.

Thanks for all the info! Most of my LE's are 2500 or under,so I'm pretty sure they'll all go up in value at least a little! I hope.

problem with pins is they are so easily counterfeited ... it can be difficult to tell what you are getting. :guilty:

Thanks. I bought all of my pins at DW or through Disney Direct so I think I'm o.k.

KJK - If you keep them for 25-50 years they will probably go up in value. A lot of the pins released since 1999 (even LE's 1,000) are worth about face value. I just recently saw an auction for a pin I paid $50 (cast member and I thought it was a good price in 2000) go for about $10.00.

Enjoy pin collecting but don't look for it to appreciate greatly.

Woah, maybe I'll get lucky, course with my luck none of my pins will be worth anything!

Some go up in value, some remain the same, some decrease.
I have some LEs I Would sell back at what I paid for them in a snap.
If all LEs rose in value, many of us would be nudging elbows with The Donald. :rotfl2:
Sometimes rack pins are better traders it seems. Many seem to buy extra LEs to trade. But not rack pins.

Pinpics may be a better gauge,

Pinpics is not a better gauge, even if 400 people want a pin you have no idea if its worth $10 or $500,also older pins have more time for people to mark it as wanted, completed auctions on ebay is the best gauge, its what someone really spent to buy a pin...crazy or not, pinpics gives you no such estimate.
