Yes, we usually dress up, even when DH and I cruised without the kids. For our cruise next week DD and I are not bringing the full costumes though (luggage weight to consider for this one) but DH and DS will be dressed up. DD and I will have pirate t-shirts with accessories.

My vote option is not there: BTDT

We did once or twice years ago but the novelity wore off and we don't do anything now.

I was surprised by how into it some people got. I don't picture us every dressing up for Pirate night. I don't want to mess with packing all that stuff. More power to the people who do it and enjoy it though!

Hm, didn't even think about it. I really don't want to have to put money out to buy and then take up space in our luggage with pirate costumes! Asked my 10 year old and he said he didn't want to dress up. I think I do still have his first grade Halloween pirate costume packed away somewhere. Maybe the eyepatch at least still fits, ha ha.

My pirate costume consists of a midlength black skirt (can also be worn for formal/semi-formal nights with different blouse), white peasant style blouse (can also be worn with shorts/capris for daytime wear, black stockings (can also be worn at other times); black shoes (my formal ones), corset (only real "costume" piece I have and it's small and doesn't require much packing space.

The trick is use pieces that can be worn in other instances. Saves a lot of packing.

We dress up, with or without little ones. It's normal on pirate night, nobody thinks it's weird. You might as well, when else do you get the change to act like a kid in public without people thinking you have a mental illness?

I voted I don't like to dress up. I never have liked being in a costume. I never wanted to pretend I am something I am not. If I want to act like a kid, and I would like to think I do, then I just do it. If someone thinks I have a mental problem that's on them. Oh and not wanting to dress up saves a lot of valuable weight in my bags.

We dress up EVERY time and we have no little ones. It's a tradition we take very seriously ;) pirate:

I guess I'm much more reserved but do ADULTS really dress up as pirates?

I'd feel very self conscience and perhaps a bit silly.

You could just wear a pirate shirt, eye patch, little something you dont need to do the hole costume. I see in many pictures and videos on YouTube that adults wear shirts, headbands and eye patches..

We went all out, and had a blast...but I think everyone should dress for their comfort level. We had cast members and the cruise director all come up and ask us for costuming tips, which I thought was really cute. A pirate costume can be as easy as black shorts or capris, a sash, a bandana and a white shirt. Just do what makes you have the best time!

I bought my 2 DS's pirate t-shirts. It has a gorilla dressed as a pirate so we'll just add an eye patch and a hook.

I guess I'll buy the Mrs. Jack Sparrow shirt I saw or perhaps the Mrs. Depp shirt. ;) (tee hee)

I think it's great that so many dress up and have fun but I'm just too darn conservative for my own good!

I think I had more fun than my kids getting dressed up!pirate::cool1: Favorite night of the cruise.
ETA: Wanted to add I am typically conservative and do not normally do that sort of thing (i.e dress up, wear crazy t shirts etc.) but really seemed to let loose on pirate night. Very fun.

Ok so I'm very quiet and reserved in big crowds of people i don't know, I'm a "people watcher". I don't like to dress up, I'm a T-shirt kinda gal. For NYE I told my DH I wanted to go full dressed pirate.... I did it! And it felt great to let loose! Felt even better when everyone was complimenting us! We don't have kids, I'm 30 and DH 28! Felt like a kid again! Do it, even if its just for dinner!

I haven't gone in full costume, just dressed up kind of piratey the last two times but I'll be wearing one next time around. Disney vacations are for acting silly and letting the kid in you come out!:yay:

We don't dress up but always had pirate shirts for our kids. We would also go to party city and stock up on pirate eye patches, pirate tattoos, nose rings etc. for our kids and to hand out to others.
I also like when families wear nice dark denim with white shirts and their pirate headscarf or other pirate accessories.

I asked my sister, ( not a DISer) if she saw anyone dressed as pirates on her 3 day cruise. She looked at me like I had two heads! She said she didn't notice anyone wearing costumes. I guess it depends on the cruise.

I always dress up but my husband will do it some times and my kids aren't interested. Keep in mind we throw a huge Halloween party every year and I have skull decorations in my dining room.

To be honest on the 3 day I do not remember much of it either. It was not until our second time that we got into it a bit. The 4 day people did it and the 7 day a lot more people seem to be dressed up. The 3 day cruise is really so quick I can see not wanting to devote the time to it.

That's what I did. I couldn't see using space in a suitcase for four full costumes, so I just bought t-shirts that the boys could wear again and we added the bandanas that DCL gives you and some items from our FE. I think they looked fine.
