DNephew 18th Bday gift ideas?

How much do you want to spend?

A nice watch.

A "one in a lifetime" experience like a race or stock car Ride Along or swim with the sharks.

Pro sports tickets.

A good piece of luggage - most guys in that age group I know prefer rolling duffel bags because they collapse and store easily.

Gift card to a good sports bar -- Chickie & Pete's is the go to place here. Don't need to be 21 and it is cooler than TGIF

Well, thank you for the ideas.

I feel like 18th is really special so I don't want to do cash or cards. I looked at events (love that thought) but in his area there aren't many. There's paragliding, which seems cool. Maybe I haven't found the right experience gift Web site.

He's more techie than sportsy though. Anyway, thanks to both of you because you got me thinking of ideas!

Happy weekend to all.

I agree with the Previous Posters. BUT......would lean towards cash. I have a bunch of Nephew and Nieces and they all want cash. Even though I felt like I hadn't put much effort in it they ended up always being able to put the money I gave them toward good use in College or just starting out in life. I felt like they enjoy my "gift" with out it being a physical form of a gift.

Take him to Hooters. At 18 they want to hang out with their friends. Buy him and his friends pizza.

If he has a passport a nice leather passport holder. We bought our son one when he graduated from 6th grade & he loved it. We got it from a place called Grichels so it's pretty unique.

I agree with you that 18 should be something "memorable" rather than cash or gas cards. Those things are certainly appreciated, but they're gone in an instant.

My daughter's turning 18 in a few months, and I'm giving her a very nice gold cross necklace. We gave her a nice piece of jewelry for her 16th birthday, and I'm pretty sure she's worn it every single day since then. I plan to get her a new Bible for her 18th too. If I had a son, I'd consider a very nice watch.

She'll graduate less than a month later, and we're giving her practical things then: I've been collecting some dorm items for her, and we're going to add a handful of restaurant, movie, grocery store gift cards -- things to take to college.

AAA membership, a set of jumper cables and other accessories for his car and a gift certificate for an oil change (if he has a car)

Tickets to a concert or show of some sort (monster trucks, wrestling, something else he might like?)

Thanks for the great ideas everybody. I really appreciate it. I went with an iPad (combine w/grad gift) - no excuse for not taking notes in classes, eh?
