DN satellite for the RV, no signal, help?

One trip to the fort I spent 2 ½ hours trying to get satellite I got so mad I kicked the dish over the signal meter went to 100% so the whole trip the dish just laid there

LOL!!!!!:lmao::lmao::lmao:

Are you sure the cable is connected to the LNB on the dish? It really does not matter which side, if it is a dual or quad LNB. What model receiver are you using?

On the back of my receiver I have two sat inputs. I use one cable from the dish that is split to both sat inputs.

I understand your frustration. We've been there a time or two as well. We never kicked the dish over and got a signal, but there was one time that we put the dish on the pole, went about doing a few other things. When we got around to setting it up we turned on the TV to use the signal meter and it was already showing our favorite station. We locked it down and were ready to roll! :thumbsup2

Have you tried changing the cable from the dish to the box? Also be sure the center wire is not too short it should be sticking out about 1/8" past the end of the connector.
I'm using the cable that DN put on and it works in the house.

If you know someone else who has a free standing dish, try using theirs to see if it will work with your wiring. One other thing, there are two of CATV type connectors on the back of your box that should have a short lead from both that goes to a coupler, then a single line to your satellite.
Also, do you have an inline meter? They tend to be more sensitive and respond faster than the signal indicator screen on the TV.
I would always recommend either buying your cables or get someone from a dish installer to make them for you. Cables are critical.
That's what I'm hoping to do is find someone with the same setup and swap out the dish.
This box only has one out to the dish coax conn.
No, I don't have a separate meter just the one on the TV.

I know the feeling about kicking it over. So it worked in the kicked over position the whole time?

It's a quad 500 dish.
I'm using the 119 satellite. Tech support told me to jump the 110 to the 119 just in case, still nothing.
Only one conn in from the dish and one out to the TV.

Thanks all.
I've been a self employed machine design engineer for over 40 years, so feel free to get as technical as you want.

Cheryl, Rudy and I bet all the people around me left for the parks or the pool because they got tired of hearing the 2 ½ hours of beep beep

MB, I got a signal meter off ebay for about $2 plus shipping. In fact I bought two just in case. Makes zeroing in on the signal a lot easier.

Yes funny thing it was just laying there and it worked great the whole time
