DMV check

I want to rent a car from Thrifty. They indicated that they "may" do a DMV check prior to rental.

Has anyone had their driver's record checked at the rental counter by Thrifty or any other car company?

They type in your license and get an immediate DVR back. I have seen them deny rentals to people who couldn't pass their requirements. If you have any serious violations or a generally poor record, I'd have a back up plan.

ALL rental agencies do this. It's probably a requirement of their liability carrier.

A coworker of mine still has his ilcense--barely. If he gets one more point it's going to be suspended. He is unable to rent a car because of his record, even though he still has a valid license.
