We have DME booked for our ride back to the airport in late May but we also have tickets that day and our flight back home departs at 4:45. I don't want to have to rush back to the resort 3-4 hours before the flight to jump on DME so I was planning on renting a car the day before then dropping it off at MCO when we get there around 3:00. Is it easier to get an Uber/Lyft from our resort than deal with the car rental? I can't get a car at the CCC because they are all out the day before so I was going to rent from Avis in the Hilton next to DS because I can walk across the street to it from DS very easily.
Am I making more hassle for myself by renting a car just to stay in the parks 1-2 hours longer that last day? Are the Uber/Lyft rides reliable enough that I could book one for like 2:15 or 2:30 to get to MCO from the Epcot area for our 4:45 flight? On one hand if we rent a car we can just load our bags in it and drive to the parks then leave from there, but on the other hand it is more expensive and a good bit more work to pick it up and drop it off as opposed to just scheduling a ride via Uber/Lyft.
I did rent from Alamo and have skip the desk for our late morning arrival and plan to return it to CCC the next day after doing some shopping for snacks and adult beverages. I saw the pictures and clips of the long DME lines at MCO and said no way to that, not taking the chance. Dropping off at the CCC the next morning when we have a MK day works out perfectly and the shuttle only has to drive us to the TTC or CR so we can start our day early in the MK. At least I hope it goes that smoothly!
