DME question

I couldn't find an answer for this, so I decided to ask the experts here! Can I send my luggage to the resort with Magical Express, while I take alternate transportation to US? I was planning to just ride DME to the resort and then take Mears over to US, but then I thought if I could eliminate an unnecessary trip, I could get us to WWoHP a lot quicker! I'm not sure if I'm responsible for taking my luggage into the resort, and I'm also not sure if they will hold it if I'm not checked in. The more I think about this option, the more I think it won't work, but it sure would be nice if it could. Thanks for your thoughts!

no i dont think this will work as you checkin at the ME desk and give them your luggage tag info from your home airport and then they scan the book when you get on the bus so im sure somewhere behind the scenes it can tell your not on the bus and may not work.

This is actually an interesting take on the question (and I don't think that it is addressed in the sticky).

The OP is not going directly to the resort (or even going there "soonish"). The luggage will definitely get there before the OP - what happens when the luggage gets there and not only has has no one checked into the resort, but no one has checked in with the DME (I know you don't always have to go up the desk, but they at least scanned my ticket). As far as WDW is concerned, the owner of the bags isn't even in Florida.

I think the going to US, throws a definite wrench in the plans.

Can you do it? Possibly. But as already noted, we can't say for sure what will happen when your luggage gets to your resort and you haven't arrived yet. It will most likely be fine, but I can't say for sure. DME is not set up to be a luggage delivery service. But at least those that tag their bags and then go to their WDW resort via a rental or car service, are actually going to WDW!!

Unless you are arriving at 7am, it's not going to make much difference. I would just take DME to your resort, and then head to US/IoA on a different day. That way you'll be able to get the shuttle over to US/IoA for park opening and head right to WWoHP!! I wouldn't do it on my arrival day.

DME not being a luggage service is an excellent point, and until you guys pointed it out, I really didn't think about it that way. I will definitely be on that bus with my luggage. Thanks for the help, and really thanks for not answering in a mean way (like I see on some other posts).

(off topic) It is possible for the baggage to get to the resort via DME long before you check in because it is possible for you to step off the DME bus, find a humongous line at the resort front desk, and go off to a park right away, returning late in the evening to check in.

But you need to take the DME bus reasonable promptly after arriving in Orlando. After a meal in the airport is okay.
