So we're planning on doing a split stay, and renting a car mid-way through our trip (car is already paid for- great GREAT deal on Priceline at MCO).

Here's what we're planning:

Take DME to BWV from MCO. Stay 2 nights.
Take DME back to MCO, pick up Rental Car (Hertz)
Drive rental car to Pop, stay 5 nights
Drive rental car back to MCO, leave.

Am I able to do this? Does DME need to know that we're not really 'leaving'- ie: do we need to have a flight time in order to take it? Our car will be ready at 10:45am... will we be able to say our flight is at 1:45pm so they'll pick us up at 10:45am? :confused3 It was one of those "name your price" car deal things that we can't change... but I think we're wanting to go down 2 days earlier than originally planned.

TIA!!!

Yes, you can do this. Simply set up DME for the return to the airport when you want to check out of BWV. If you want to leave there are 10:30, then tell DME that you have a 1:30pm flight. You can look one up and give it to them if you want to. You will take DME back to the airport, pick up the car and back to POP.

What I did was take DME myself to MCO while the family packed up our stuff. I drove back to POR and picked them up. We had an offsite timeshare the last two nights and it worked out perfect.

It is perfectly fine to do this as you are entitled to a ride to WDW and a ride to MCO with your reservation.

Instead of going to the airport to pick up the rental car, why not look for a location near WDW that has a shuttle? An easy way to do this is to go to Google and enter "Hertz near Walt Disney World". Of course you could also look on the Hertz web site.

Looks like they can't change anything on the reservation...a name your own price deal usually means no changes.

But, just take DME back and pickup the car. And, I would suggest that not everyone goes with the driver. They stay behind and can be picked up, with their luggage. So, give them a time that will get you to the airport by 10:30...that would be about 1:15/1:30. Or, just tell them you need to be back at MCO by 10:30....they don't much care why.

Ok great- I wasn't sure how specific I needed to be with them! There's only two of us, so DH and I will stay together. I imagine that we'll need to take our bags with us on DME, right? We'll be coming right back and checking in at Pop :rotfl: :confused3

Also, when we get off DME at MCO, how do we get to ground transportation/rental cars? Is that in the same terminal?

Yes, take your bags. It will be the easiest thing for you to do. However, you can have bell services transfer them to POP for you. If you do that you won't get them until later in the day.

When you get to MCO go down to level 1...that's where all the rental counters are. Both sides of the terminal are the same.

Bell services will transfer your bags for you! I have had good luck with this myself. You may not get them until after 4/5ish but if your going to a park anyway it would be much easier than dragging them back and forth from the airport.

Yes, definitely check the luggage with bell services. Take whatever you might need in the next few hours in a small carry-on on DME with you, and let Disney handle the rest. We did this a few weeks ago and it worked out great! :thumbsup2

BTW, if you want to be AT the airport at 10:45, I might tell DME a 1:00 or 1:15 flight, since that will net you a 10:15 pickup.
