Hello!

I am traveling to DW in June for 10 days, the first 5 days my husband will be joining me and we will rent a car. The last 5 days, my dad will be flying in to join me. Will my dad be able to use DME for his arrival even though it is halfway through the trip? Do I have to have his name on the DME reservation or can I just have him use my husbands name to check into DME (I wasn't going to have my dad listed on the room reservation)?

Thanks

As long as he is named on the room reservation, there is no problem with your father using DME in the middle of your trip. If you are using the Disney dining plan, you may hit a little wrinkle but it is very easy and very legitimate to get around. If you are using the dining plan, you don't want your father to be named on the reservation for the first five days when he won't be there. If this is the case, at some point after check-in tell your resort's front desk about your father's arrival date to make sure he gets named onto the reservation at that time. If they are unable to immediately make a DME reservation for him, then you should call 866-599-0951 (DME's direct line) and make the ride reservation for him that way, but remember this must be after you put him on the resort reservation for his arrival date.

It against the rules to have someone staying in your room who is not on the reservation. I am afraid he can not be added to the reservation at the mid point of the trip! because your reservation has already been activated and can not be altered at this point. In order for him to use the bus he will have to have to be on the reservation and have a coupon book in his name.

Actually, if someone is arriving later, they can be added to the room reservation. Disney will tell guests to go to the front desk, the day before the person is to arrive, and add them to the reservation. They can then be put on the DME reservation list. Guests do this all the time.

This is not true. You can most certainly add a guest to your reservation after you have checked in. Once you check in, you can go back and add the new guest to your reservation. This way they can have a room key. Once that is done, you can then go ahead and arrange Magical Express for them. They can then go to the ME desk at the airport where a voucher will be printed for them and arrange for any checked bags to be picked up.

We just did the very scenario on a recent trip. We arrived at WDW on a Tuesday but my brother was coming the next day and only staying for a few days in the middle of our trip. Once we had checked in, we went back a little later and added him. We then added him to ME and he had no problems at all getting to Pop from MCO. He was even able to go right to the check in desk and ask for a room key since the rest of us were still at a park. It was all very simple and easy.

Not quite - we do this all the time as recently as December. As long as you don't exceed room capacity an additional guest can be added at any time. I often have my sister join us or leave us 1/2 way through and we have no issues adding her to the room or to DME.

There is a charge for additional adults over 2 and it varies depending on the resort category.
