What is the minimum time from the time you reserve DME to the time that you will use them? I have just decided that i might utilize the service, but I'm afraid it might be too late. How far in advance of your trip do you get luggage tags? Can you use the service without receiving confirmation in the mail? thanks

I don't have the answer to your question about timing. What I CAN tell you is as long as you have a valid reservation for DME, it doesn't matter whether or not you receive your DME tags in the mail. You can still use DME. When you get to the DME Welcome Center (skip baggage claim!), they'll ask if you tagged your bags, you'll tell them no, and they'll take care of things from there. But remember, you NEED to have a reservation. Your best bet is to call them directly and ask this info, in case no one herre knows it. When DME was first announced it was publicized that reservations needed to be made no later than 10 days in advance, but I have no clue if this is still accurate.

Technically you need ten days advance reservation to book DME going to Disney one way or round trip, or one day notice at the resort for one way usage going home. In practice DME often doesn't enforce this.

Yes you can still use DME if you did not get the yellow tags and other materials. If you reserved just at the 10 day marker they will probably say the tickets might not arrive and you should simply report to the DME welcoming area.

It is a good idea to at least write down the name of the person you talk to on the phone each time you call, although you probably won't need to give that information when you arrive in Orlando.

The advice is to book at least 10 days before travel. However, booking at this time frame won't get you your luggage tags. Most people get them about 3 weeks before travel. But, it's no big deal if you don't have the tags. You have two options....go to baggagge claim and pick the bags up and take them with you to the DME area and put them on your bus. Or, you can go directly to DME and hand over your baggage claim tickets and a DME rep will pull the bags for you and have them put on the luggage delivery truck.
