DME & Magicbands question

Hi! I am headed down in January. I have never flown to WDW before so DME is all new to me.

Room reservations are under my roommates name. Magicbands are being sent to her. Do I need the MB to get on DME? I will not be visiting a park on my arrival day if that helps.

It would make it much easier for you to get on the bus if you have the MB. Otherwise, you will have to stop, have them look up your reservation, and then print you out a voucher for the bus. Much easier to just get the MB from your friend. I had plenty of time to mail my dd's best friend her MB before we left.

MBs are not required to take DME. We non-Americans do not get our MBs shipped to us and have to pick them up at the hotel. Yet we can ride DME. The only thing required is a Disney Resort reservation. It may be easier with MB as goofy4tink says but it can be done without.

Personal aside, I really wish Disney hadn't developed such disdain for non-Americans that they show in many areas now. Used to be good to the rest of us.

I don't think it's so much disdain as it is cheapness! It's all about the bottom line with Disney. If it's going to cost them x number of dollars to ship stuff internationally, and it's a lot more than shipping domestically, they aren't going to do it! Stupid.

I'd normally agree but for everything else in Canada the material is printed in Canada and then shipped from centers like Windsor Ontario. They already have the infrastructure why not use it? Ok I agree some of it is cheapness but it's been a progression starting with dropping Disney Club for Disney Chase (not available in Canada) and associated Chase events to now MBs and the inability to take advantage of things like direct to room arrival. After a while it really feels like disdain and perception is more important than reality.

I've always assumed that they won't ship MBs internationally because of Customs issues. Since they're shipping an electronic device, I guess I just assumed they'd be potentially caught up in Customs and that many MBs wouldn't make it to their destinations on time.
