DME Luggage Question

Yes it is (and there are many posts addressing this issue) but why would you want to? Luggage transport is one of the great perks of DME. Attach yellow tags, check luggage (remembering to pack immediate-need items in carry-on, or plan to purchase at destination) and voila! Your luggage magically appears in your room a few hours after it's assigned.
You can bring your luggage to the bus (where the driver will stow it underneath and remove it at your destination, remember a tip is appropriate for anyone who handles your luggage), but you have to detour to baggage claim, wait for your bags to come out, haul them to the DME check-in counter, then to your bus's waiting line, then to the bus... all delaying your arrival at WDW.

Has anyone ever had any luggage lost on DME. We are staying at Disney for three days then heading out on a cruise. Would be upset if luggage was lost and had to spend our WDW time searching for it.

In the begining last year quite a few had lost their luggage. Disney did compensate them. I don't know about lately, but I'm signed up for Sept 3 and I sure hope all goes well for me.

In all of my message-boarding since last year, plus my experience of successfully using DME May 8 and 14, 2005, I NEVER heard any reports of a rash of lost luggage courtesy of DME.

We did this last year, collected out bags at baggage claim and then off to the bus we went with them, i called disneys ME again this year to inquire as to whether this was still kosher and the woman was really nice and friendly and told me that yes, it was still fine with them! ;)

I am a paranoid person and I want to know that the airline didn't lose my luggage before I head to Disney, but in addition my DH needs to unpack and get everything settles before he can really enjoy himself to. I know we are OCD/anal retentive ppl but hey! different strokes for different folks so whatever works for ya!

What is the basis for this statement. :confused3

Nothing of the sort was posted on any internet board that I've read. A few unhappy towncar people were making up stuff I hope that's not the basis for your post.

We were thinking of picking up our luggage at Orlando and taking it with us to the resort, because our flight doesn't arrive until 7:30 pm. We were unsure of the average time it takes for ME to deliver your luggage to your room, and since we have two little ones we wanted to be assured of having it before tuck in time at the resort. Another issue is making sure we get our toiletries too. Do they let you carry on contact lens solution or no?

Does anyone know the estimated average time to let ME deliver your luggage?

How long will waiting for our luggage delay us in getting to WDW, for those of you who have picked up your luggage?

TIA. I know I need to make a decision beforehand so that I know whether to use the luggage tags or not.

We have to claim our luggage before going through International customs...could put it back for DME to re-claim, but why?? Just took it with us on the bus! Doing same this year. :thumbsup2

On my last trip in May 2005, I personally heard from 2 different people I met in the parks whose luggage was lost. And both families were given chits of some sort to buy clothes and other things that were needed.
