My family and I are going to WDW next week and it will be our first time using DME. We are only staying for a few nights and could actually pack most of our stuff and have it carry on except the restrictions with the liquids and all the other stuff so we are just going to check our luggage.

We would like to NOT have DME deliver it but bring it with us at check-in, is there a way to do this?? And if so how??

Sure! Just don't put the yellow Magical Express tags on your luggage. You'll have to go to baggage claim and get the bags yourself, but then they will ride on the bus with you to the resort.

I believe you can. Do not put your DME tags on your luggage. You will need to pick up your luggage at baggage claim and take it with you to the DME check in.

Great thanks!! Now, do we have to have anything for the DME check-in?? Show any proof or anything?

What can I expect?

Thanks!

You still need to place that reservation with DME. or if you used a travel agent have them do it. otherwise you will get to the DME desk and they will tell you that you need to make other arrangements.

Thanks bab.

I do believe I made arrangements though. I received my yellow tags in the mail, does that mean I am all set or do I need to do something else?? :confused3

I have not used ME yet, but sounds like to me you are all set. I have not decided yet if we are picking up our bags or not. I think it will have more to do with whether DH brings his clubs. I know if he brings his clubs we are picking up our bags. I am planning on packing a carryon with the necessities of 24 hours so if we use ME the way it is suppose to work we wont have to worry about our bags arriving late as our fllight does not arrive until 6:30 pm

Since you don't want to use the luggage transfer part of DME, and get your own luggage at MCO, just do not put those yellow tags on your checked bags, as mentioned earlier. Go directly from the plane to baggage carousel, and grab your bags. Then head down another level to DME checkin. Be sure to have your vouchers with you. These came in the same packet as your luggage tags. If you don't, it's not a huge deal..it will just take them a bit longer to locate you in the system. They will stamp your vouchers, then off to the buses you go. Your luggage will be put underneath the bus for you.

Great! Thanks everyone.

We are trying to avoid checking bags and seeing what can and can't go into a carry on because we will only be there 3 nights.
