DME first timer questions

We'll be renting a car at MCO and spending a week in Tampa before a few days at AKV. Need help deciding if we should return the car or keep it for our stay at Disney.

If we decide to return the rental car at Disney can we reserve DME for our return trip to the airport? Our flight is at 7a.m. - what time would the DME pickup be?

If we decide to return the car to MCO prior to our Disney trip can we book DME for 1 person from MCO to Disney, but for 5 people on the Disney to MCO return trip? DH would drop us at AKV then return the car to MCO solo, I just can't see the 5 of us returning the car to MCO just to take DME to AKV.

I know you can use DME one way, so rental car from airport to Disney (via Tampa), then returning it and using DME to return to the airport is fine.

DME pickup is ~3 hours before your flight, so you're looking at needing to be at the pickup spot by 3:45am on your departure day (you need to be there there 15 minutes before your scheduled pickup time).

I'm 99.9% certain one person can ride DME from the airport to the resort (as long as that person is listed on the reservation), and everyone can ride back to MCO.

Yes, definitely, 100%, one person can take DME to the resort on check in day.

Pick a flight, any flight, any airline, arriving in Orlando at about the time he wishes to get on the DME bus. Make the reservation preferably at least 2 weeks in advance. The reservationist may or may not ask for the flight number.

After you get there (say, at the resort) make the rest of the reservations for the trip back to the airport.

Before having one person in your party trek out to the airport to return a car I would check pricing for returning at Disney and I would also check prices for keeping the car for the entire trip. Just one or two resort dinner taxis could make up the price difference.
