DME Crowds

My DW are frequenters to WDW (we are DVC members) and the last few times we have been to WDW the DME crowds have been horrible. So much so that we ended up renting a car at the airport.

But I'm not sure if the crowds were because of the time we arrived or what? But what has been your experience on the crowds for DME.

Last time we used DME the line at MCO was non-existent, and the bus left about 5 mins after we boarded around 8:30-9 p.m. Two other passengers were on the bus with us, and we made only one stop -- at the Grand Floridian.

Do you usually arrive on a Friday or Saturday? I would guess that's why it's busy. We usually fly on a weekday and haven't had any crowds at the ME.

Hmm. I've never seen horrible crowds at the DME area. And I have arrived anywhere from 11 am to 11 pm. Used ME during Spring Break at the 4th of July too. Even when that area is busy, they move people along very quickly. I think the most I have ever waited was 20 minutes.

We usually arrive around 10am. I've never waited more than 10 minutes for the bus. And the buses have never been completely full.

DH always pick up a rental car while I take DME with the kids. We've always arrived at the resort within 5 minutes of each other. Except for the one time that his GPS took him the wrong way and I beat him to SSR by about 15 minutes.

The only time I have ever seen a 'horrible crowd' at DME was the Sat morning in Dec that my friend and I arrived on. Seems the PopWarner families were all arriving that day !! Oh dear God!! The line to check in was way past the car rental counters!! I figured we would be there for hours! Nope. My friend got into the checkin line, I found an empty spot on the floor and sat against a pole. She was done in 20 or so mins! I was really surprised. All in all, it took us less than 90 mins from gate to resort!!
If it's busy, there will be more CMs working and more buses running.
