Upon checking out of my Disney Resort, I will need to go back to the airport to meet friends flying in for a cruise.
This is not a Disney Cruise.

My TA said we would just schedule DME for my transport to my Disney Resort on the first day, and not schedule it back to the airport on the last day. He said since I'll need to take my luggage with me, I would have to ask at the resort how to do this when I check in the first day.

Has anyone gone back to the airport from WDW and used DME and handled their own luggage??

Thanks in advance for your input and suggestions :worship:

Yes, not all airlines allow resort luggage check-in. For example, Spirit or Frontier.

I haven't personally, but I know it can be done because not everyone can take advantage of RAC, either because their airline isn't a participating airline or because their flight is leaving too early in the morning.

Wonderful! Thank you.
Then I should have him go ahead and schedule me a DME?
or
since I'm not catching a flight, just talk to the resort and tell them I need to catch an Airport bus on my last morning?

First suggestion, get a new TA. One that knows more about WDW.

As to your specific question about getting back to the airport, your TA should also book that part of ME for you. Figure out what time you need to be at the airport and have the TA request it. You don't need to have an actual flight booked on that date. You'll take your bags with you to the ME bus and the driver will load them underneath for the trip from your resort to the airport. Standard tip is $1-2 per bag.

You can also wait until you get to the resort, but why not let the TA do the work they are getting paid for.

Yep, went to DW and stayed at POP. I was on an airline that didn't do the luggage thing with Disney and when it was our time to depart just went to the ME load/unload area and my luggage was loaded under the bus and away we went! Since Disney wasn't engaging with the airline at all they didn't know if I did or did not have a flight, just that it was time for me to go and I said I needed to go to the airport.

Your TA needs to find a new career.. may I suggest becoming a weather man? :rotfl:

LOL on the TA comments
It was a Disney TA that told me that ;)
I booked directly through Disney

I'm also going on the Disney/Pixar Cruise and booked through Disney.
They told me I could only get a hotel package/transfer to port if I stayed at Disneyland Property. So, I booked a hotel in San Pedro and started looking for transportation to the hotel from LAX.
On our roll call, several people told me they booked the LAX Marriott and transfers through Disney.

The Disney Cruise Line personnel told me only transfers IF I stayed at a Disneyland resort. I changed to a private TA and asked him. He called and Disney told him the same thing. I waited and kept reading about other people who were doing the Disney Transfer/Marriott/LAX package. So, I tried a FOURTH time, and my TA reluctently called again (probably thinking I was nuts) ....he got the same answer and then asked for a supervisor. The Disney Supervisor said OF COURSE, they had a package like that. He said he would send out a Memo immediately letting all of his staff know! :confused3
I wondered how many people booked other arrangements, because Disney TA's were telling them the wrong info.

Thanks for all the responses. I'm glad to know it's been done without being a big deal.

Y'all are the best!!!!

Do you have an actual agent or are you just calling CRO and talking to whomever answers the phone? I've never booked directly through WDW, so I have no idea how it works.

Anyone can take Magical Express back to the airport, bringing all his bags to the bus with him.

Guests flying out on selected airlines during selected hours can check bags for the flight at the resort and then return to the airport via any means without having to schlep the bags.

If the airline charges a fee for baggage, it is necessary to make advance arrangements to pay the fee before checking the bags at the resort, but the fee can be paid on the spot when checking the bags at the airport.

You do not have to tell Magical Express in advance whether or not you will be bringing bags to the bus, although the bus ride itself has to be reserved and confirmed in advance.

Then I should have him go ahead and schedule me a DME?

You must have an advance reservation. Deadline is morning of the day before the day you will take the DME bus back to the airport.

Take DME both ways. Bring your luggage on the bus back to the airport. (the driver loads it for you). When you get to the airport take luggage directly to meet your friends. :)
