Hello,

I hope this is the right place to post this. We will be taking DME from the airport on October 1st. Our flight lands at 3:30. Do you think I will be to my resort (CBR) to make a 6:30 dinner reservation there?

Thank you.

Yes, it is good that you made it at your resort.

ME takes about 70 - 90 minutes from deboarding.

Since you don't have to worry about getting to another resort or a park to make a dinner ressie - you are good to go!

Yes, no problem. Have fun.

Are you staying at the CBR? Is there a restaurant there that takes reservations?

You might want to know that the extra time can be eaten away. There could be long lines at the airport DME check in. If there is it may take a while to check into the hotel. And because the resort is spread out it may take you a while to get to you room and then back to shutters.

While 3 hours is plenty of time to make an ADR at your resort, worst case, you just may be draggin your carry ons with you to dinner.

No need to drag the carry ons to dinner. Give them to Bell Services upon arrival and they will deliver them to your room when you call.

If it takes 3 hours please come back and report....half the transporation board will melt down.

Can you imagine the frenzy??!! Dear God.

I have had one instance, in using DME for two trips a year since it started, where it took 90 mins. That was the one time I was the third of three stops and we spent an inordinant amount of time at the first two resorts due to a huge amount of luggage being brought to the bus. Those luggage bins, beneath the bus, had to be stuffed! At least 10 families, for those first two stops, had multiple checked bags with them. One family (of about 4 if I remember correctly) had about 8 bags!!! You should have seen the luggage cart...looked like they were going to some remote place for a month!!!
Because the bus driver spent so much time unloading those bags and then standing there in order to be sure the bags were disbursed correctly and he got the subsequent tip, we spent about 15 mins at each of those two resorts. You should have seen the people flying off that bus when we finally got to POP!!!

But, seriously....most guests will have a trip of about 70 mins....from gate to resort.

Thank you for all the answers. I'll let you know if it takes that long when we return. That is one of the reasons I made our table service for our hotel so we didn't have to transport somewhere else. I'll let you know how it goes.

:-)

Taking bags to the luggage service is when you have extra time.

I'm suggesting if you are taking your carry ons to dinner its part of the worse case.

bolding is mine....

ROFLOL!!!!! :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl2: :lmao:

that was probably us!! Kidding....
But we do travel w/ 2 checked bags or at least 7 out of 8 and we each take a carry on... I HATE doing laundry while I am travelling... It is my vacation too.

On our first cruise, I was very unsure about packing and clearly overpacked for that one. The gentleman at the car rental agency who was shuttling us over to DCL (after we turned our car in) was asking how long of a cruise we were taking while he was looking at the amount of luggage we had. When I told him it was only a four night cruise, he asked if we were planning on moving to the island... :rotfl:

For our trip in 2003, we had so much luggage (AT allowed you to check 3 bags per person at no charge back then....imagine that ) we needed TWO luggage racks to get it all to our room. But also keep in mind that we alway stay over a week. Last trip was 11 nights. and when we do WDW and cruise, I like to pack separate bags. That way I don't have to open every single piece of luggage...makes things much easier for us, but everyone has different packing habits that work for them.... :goodvibes

Even at worse case no need to drag carryons to dinner. It will take all of 30 seconds for one member of the part to hand the carryons to Bell Services while the other member of the party heads toward checkin. Or worse case one person drops with Bell Services while the other starts for the bus line for the ride OldPort Royale skipping checkin.

Really no need to worry about that. It takes about 8 mins to leave your carryon bags with Bell Services/Luggage Assistence. If someone is in that big of a hurry, then one person can dump the bags and the rest of the party can go to the restaurant. The 'bag person' can join the rest of the group when done with the bags. No need to drag bags to dinner.

When we did our first cruise, we were at WDW for 5 days, then on to a 4 night cruise, then drove over to Tampa to visit my ds and his wife for 3 days....we had a large amount of luggage as well. We left our non-cruise stuff in the car trunk..that helped a bit.

I will say that I was at WDW for two weeks last year. I needed only one checked duffle and my carryon bag. But, I tend to pack pretty lightly. The three of us (myself, dd, 16, and dh) usually check a bag apiece if we are headed for two different destinations. Otherwise, we can do it with just two checked bags. But, it's taken a lot of practice.
