I have just returned from four wonderful days in the Disneyland Resort Paris (3rd trip) parks with my wife and 2 year old daughter, and I have to say that the disneyland park is probably the prettiest of all the 'Magic Kingdoms' that I have visited (WDW 6 times, DL California 1). The whole family had a great time and really enjoyed our trip. However the one thing that did dissapoint me, was that the level of maintenence and general upkeep of the park is simply not of the same standard as the Disney parks in the USA. There were numerous examples of chipped paint, missing jewels on some of the carousel horses and a general feeling that this park has not been as lovingly kept as its US cousins. Has anybody else noticed this?

From what I saw in November, I would agree. I was looking at some of the buildings on Main Street and noticed rotting wood, peeling paint etc. However, I've got a feeling I've seen some pics recently showing them refurbing certain buildings so maybe they've sorted that now. :confused3

When I have really looked, then I have seen signs of neglect in some places. But it doesn't seem to be such a problem that I notice it otherwise or find it jarring!!! It's been a while since I was last at WDW, so I don't know how bad the difference is. All I do know is, that compared with the theme parks in this country, DLP seems beautifully maintained to me!!

Hopefully the problems you noticed will be sorted during the Big Push for the 15th anniversary :)

Glad you still had a good trip!! :thumbsup2

Hopefully this will be part of a future refurb.

Sounds as if you all had a great time :goodvibes

They do seem to be trying to repaint and refurbish now that they have some extra money.

I guess you've just been spoilt by WDW!!

That's why I haven't been to DLP, and probably will never go. I'm scared it won't be the same!

Purely by the fact it is European (and all the stuff that goes with that) it will not be the same. HOWEVER, that is also part of it's attraction. The park is much prettier, the majority of the rides are better. And you get a much more interesting selection of weather too :rotfl: :rotfl:

There have been monetary problems ever since opening, but hopefully this situation is now being reversed and money is being spent on both new attractions and general refurbishments.

By the time of the 15th anniversary next year I think the park will be looking pristine again. Othwewise I will be taking my paintbrush and doing some decorating myself :artist: :artist:

That's right!! :teeth: DLP certainly isn't the same as WDW, but it's still a great Disney experience :goodvibes

I love WDW as well, but it isn't like the place is perfect and DLP isn't. Even WDW has had... *gasp*... less than magical areas!!! A, now sadly defunct website, called D-Troops, reported areas of "bad show" at WDW on a weekly basis!!

Hi

I also have to agree. I was shocked to see the back of the castle looking so dirty and generally in need of a spruce up. However Adventure Island is much better than MK by far, but then MK has been open for years and for them to improve some areas that DLP has that are prettier would take a whole re-construction i.e Adventure Island. Its also nice to have a slight difference in the parks. WDW will always win hands down in my opinion, but then thats because of many reasons

1) The weather in America. I hate winter
2) Epcot and Animal Kingdom
3) American people and the excellent customer service that I have always received
4) Water parks
5) The list continues

It was nice to know that there is a Disney park close by that will not cost thousands of pounds to get our magical disney hit. Otherwise I will be claiming bankruptcy :rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2: if it was not for DLP.
