I am planning a trip in October and am staying at the PP. Can we use the DLH pool? My nephew is dying to swim there, but there were no more AP4 resies avail. Thanks.

I am no expert, however, we just got back from the Grand Californian Hotel and you need a valid room key to enter the pool area. I would think the answer is no due to this, but perhaps someone else has some more information. Welcome to the DIS!

We tried our PPH key in Feb at the Neverland Pool and it didn't work. I think the only time a DLR hotel guests can use another DLR hotel pool is if their hotel pool is not open due to contsruction or maintenance.

Hmm. Would have sworn I saw it specifically stated, but what I do find now is

If you are a Disneyland® Hotel or Disney's Paradise Pier® Hotel Guest, you may use any of the services at either Resort Hotel.

My DLH key worked at DCH in June - only checked because people were at the DLH pool that were staying at PPH. They'd been pool hopping for a week with their PPH key.

My seach functions doesn't work on this board so I couldn't look up past threads. From reading from other disney boards regarding pool hopping, the only way to ensure that you'll have access to a certain hotel pool is to stay at that hotel pool. People have had luck using their key on other DLR hotel pools and some have not. If it's a big part of your trip to use the DLH pool, I'd stay there. If it's not a big deal and would be a nice perk if it was available then PPH is great.

We were there two weeks ago (DLH), and we were told that we could only use the DLH pool. When we returned home, I called Guest Relations, and they confirmed that guests are only allowed to use the pool at the hotel where they are registered.

I think it really depends on who you talk to. When I was at the GCH pool, I ordered food and drink poolside. Gave the poolside hostess my charge slip from the DLH and asked if it was ok if I used it there. She said it wasn't a problem.

Did you use your key to enter GCH's pool? or did you use the side entrance by WhiteWater Snack, which is hardly ever locked. Your DLH chargeslip is just that, a chargeslip. You can use it to pay anywhere in DL, DCA, or any shop or restaurant in DLH, GCH, or PPH.

Every single time we've stayed at a resort hotel, they've always told us we could use any resort hotel pool. I will say... we've never tried... but that has always been 'recited' to us upon check in. I think if we had a problem with our key trying to enter a pool area, I'd take it to that hotel's front desk and inquire as to why I couldn't enter  . Would that be a wrong thing to do? Just curious in case we wanted to next time :thumbsup2

When I stayed at PPH and the pool was under refurb, they had to give me another DLH key to use to get into the DLH pool. I wonder if they would do that if you asked them really nicely or maybe said you just wanted to check it out for next time? Also, it is really easy to slip into the pool area, either the door didn't latch or someone is coming out or going in. Half the time I never got my key out.

I'm just taking a guess here, but I would reason, considering the responses, that it depends on the situation.

Disney seems very good about upgrading guests when extra accomodations and such are available. Therefore maybe it's allowed if not condoned during quieter seasons?

Hardly. My above post stated that I used my DLH key. I also stated that my charge slip was from DLH. I'm not a DLR neophite (AP holder for 8 years) and do take exception to questioning my integrity.

I didn't see where anyone was questioning your integrity. :confused3

So anyway........

The official answer for today from a cast member is, well, very wishy washy. There really wasn't an answer other than they don't really encourage pool hopping and of course if space was an issue (too full at the pool you wanted to hop to) you would not be able to. But it sounded something like a yes if you wanted to, they would accomodate. Like I said in a previous post, when I was at PPH in May 07, they gave me a special key card to get into the DLH pool, so I would be surprised if my PPH key would have worked. I would imagine you would just ask the desk if you could get one of those key cards to try out the other pool.

Didn't mean to offend you and was not questioning your integrity. Sorry if you were offended by it.

No need to apoligize, it was entirely my fault. Sometimes a bad day at work translates to a bad day on the board. Must slap myself with a wet noodle now and watch Teletubbies greatest hits for the next 2 hours.

Thank you for all of the help and suggestions. I will give it a try and ask a CM with my sweetest smile. I will let you know when I get back in mid-October if it worked. This board is so helpful. Thanks to everyone. :flower3:
