Hi there! DF/DD and I made a last minute trip out to DLR arriving 1/19 - 1/22. We couldn't resist since DD's cousins are coming along!

No need to worry about flight - since we'll be driving. We're using DVC points for GCH.

I was just wondering, and I know it's been asked before, how to get the "mouset" of your budget?

We really don't need to buy any souveniers since we're planning to go back in 03/08. So all we worry is Food. It would be nice to eat in park - but for dinner, we can probably go to outside restaurants as well.

TIA!

Bring a cooler with some premade muffins and milk. You can also bring some cereal with disposable utensils (spoons, bowls, cups). Eat breakfast at the hotel or waiting in line for the parks to open.

When in the parks stick to counter service, or better yet, in the cooler pack lunch meats or stuff to makes sandwiches. That way you can return to your hotel at lunch (right next to DCA, few steps from DL), relax, grab a cheap bite, and then head back to the parks for the afternoon/evening.

Then dinner you can either eat a counter service or try a table service.

Your room at the GCH will have a mini fridge, you can bring your own lunch meats and make lunches. You can take the sandwiches into the park but not the fixings, they have to be made before hand. Split meals, you get huge plates of food for the most part and we can share easily. There is a McD's across the street on Harbor, they have a value menu.

We like bringing granola bars in with us. They are a perfect pick-me-up when you're tempted to shell out scads of money on something that won't really fill you up or do more than a temporary sugar boost.

When I drive I take: PB & J, lunch meats, cereal, fruits, popcorn to take with us into the park, soda, water. If all you want are tips to save on food thats super easy, Don't eat out.

Whitewater Snacks at the GCH is an awesome value. They have very large portions (even their kids meals are large), so you can split. Some of our favorite splitable meals are the steak nachos, green chili chicken sandwich or I split a chicken strips kids meal with one of my kids and I get a side salad and use some of their chicken on it.

Just an idea since it's so convenient to where you are staying and if you get tired of pb&j. ;)

I second everything she said! We frequently do lunch at Whitewater.
