DLR Matterhorn vs. WDW Everest Article

To me, before I go read this, there is no contest. Everest is much better, more thrilling, smoother ride and just amazing! :)

I agree upkeep on everest has been lacking and I'm hoping they'll do a big refurb soon. We were there in dec 09 last and the yeti was working fine all six times we rode. I do love the matterhorn for it's being a disney classic but ride experience wise I still give the upperhand to everest. Great article! Thanks for sharing :)

+1!!

Great article, thanks for sharing!

Personally I don't even think they should be comparing the two; they are just not in the same category IMO. Matterhorn, while more nostalgic, is basically a baby version of EE.

Apples and oranges.

Everest doesn't have the same thrill with the Yeti being down. My kids like the Matterhorn, but I'm not a big fan.

I agree- completely different attractions. Though, as much as I love the Matterhorn, every time I ride it, I leave with bruises! That is one painful ride! Everest is much easier on my body!

Compare the first steel coaster built to a technologically modern ride? Not a fair comparison!

The waiting area for Expedition Everest is amazing -- no way can the Matterhorn compare. I'm not fond of all the g's pullin your face outta shape on the Everest, but it's definitely smoother than the Matterhorn. Funny story -- my DH didn't even notice the Yeti either time we were on the ride. 8^)

I vote for the Matterhorn for its nostalgia factor, and its landmark status -- you know you're close to Disneyland when you see the snow-covered mtn, but Expedition Everest wins for technology, as it should!

It is Apples and Oranges.

Matterhorn is a Dsiney Original (one of few left in the original park) and was based off Disneys trip over seas. He wanted to bring it back with him to California. Decades later WDW was built, bringing Everest.

Theres no comparison. They are two seperate entities. Both great. But can't be compared.

I like Everest so much more. But I have never though it resonable to compare it to the Matterhorn.

This :thumbsup2, Matterhorn is a classic.

I grew up riding the Matterhorn, and it is still one of my absolute favorite rides. We will most definitely be riding it multiple times each day we are in the parks this summer. With that said, Everest is definitely one of my favorite rides at WDW, topped only by Aerosmith (something about Rock 'n Roll playing in my ear while speeding through along a blacklight track gets me every time). I've never witnessed the issues with the Yeti, so I can't say whether the lack of it would dampen my spirits; can't imagine so, though, as going along the track backwards is the main thrill for me, not the Yeti. I do have to agree with another poster that the queue line is amazing. First time we rode it, FP were all out, and we spent 2 hours in line. Definitely weren't bored--something to look at the whole way.
