DLR is closing early today (1/18/10)

Forget Rivers of America, we've got Rivers of Main Street!

These were taken about 1:15pm on Tuesday, during the tornado watch, but didn't know that at the time. I did kind of wonder why everything in Tomorrowland was closed on Tuesday when there was heavy rains on Monday and everything was still open.

OMG!!!!!!!!! Those pics were crrrazy!!!! AZ's getting it now, it looks like it's 6pm outside & it hasn't let up yet....
Are there even rain gutters in DL??? I have no idea why but I got a flash memory of Johnny Fedora & Alice Blue Bonnet...loved that Disney story! :lovestruc

Yes, we're having lovely weather up here in Seattle, too. Yesterday was Spring-like. So glad I'm heading to DL on Friday. :rolleyes1

I can handle the rain, just can't handle it if the park closes on me! Wellies are packed!

My friend lives in Stanwood and she always says "You won't melt walk between the raindrops"

I live in Nor Cal and we had TORNADO WARNINGS yesterday! My Kansas born husband was attempting to get his coworkers to take it seriously! We live in earthquake country, we don't have basements! No tornado, but lots of hail :umbrella:

Basically yes, I'm jealous of your weather. BUT at least I can drive in the rain! :lmao:;):thumbsup2

Small world isn't it? Did either of you ever go to the Grad? LOL

Of course I went to the Grad!! I lived in Davis from '93-'97 (grad in '96) and I remember a couple of winters where it rained/snowed in the Sierras every weekend. I also remember when I-5 was flooded. My hubby also went to Davis-its where we met. When I lived in Orange County, I remember the spring of '92 wading through knee deep water to get to my car and drive home from school! My brakes wouldn't work very well-too wet. Be careful out there everyone!

Yes, there were tornado warnings in SoCal too - Orange County usually seems to be the place that gets them when we DO have them. And they are not monster-size midwestern tornadoes. But they often start with a water spout (and today we are supposed to have water spout warnings in SoCal) and then move inland, and they are just big enough to tear a random roof off a house here, flip a car over there. I have always noticed, though, that whenever we get whomped with some bad rain for days on end, Orange County gets the tornado activity!

We had tornado warnings here too? LOL Wow, I didn't even realize that......LOL

LMAO!!!! Too funny....I bet we saw each other and didn't know it! LOL I bet you know my DBF, he was a regular there around this time frame. How funny, what a small world it is......DBF and I met at the Grad, my BFF met her DH there too. We still go to the Grad on country nights sometimes....LOL

I was going to try & get up there this weekend for sledding w/ the kids but I think I'm too scared, LOL. My poor "valley" kids have no clue what NEW snow looks & feels like. Last time we got to Flag it was all pretty hardpacked, but made for a fun (& bruised) day. :thumbsup2 I heard the White MOuntains were expecting 20 inches!!

I've been checking the 2 weather threads regularly, I'm so freaked about this crazy weather...

MagicalMomAZ, you don't want to bring your kids this weekend. It is TOO MUCH!!! I have given up on keeping up with the driveway and am just trying to keep the vehicle roofs from caving in. Also, you have to watch out for the Teenage Mutant Ninja Snowplow Drivers! One of those drivers took out our front rock wall and our mailbox this morning. We live in a 25mph zone, and the plows are coming through at about 45 mph, sometimes going the wrong way. It is CRAZY! I have called a guy with a snow blower to come blow us out tomorrow. I hope the guy can find our house! The snow is over the hood of our Nissan Sentra, and we are expecting another 2 feet. Fortunately, DH came down with the flu (the kids and I had it earlier) and stayed home today (probably tomorrow, too). How often are you happy to have the flu??!!

Sherry and other SoCal people, I hope you guys survive the winds and rains today! This is certainly an historic event! I think the Weather channel put it best as "the most interesting storm of the last 20 years." Interesting??? Too bad we can't hop a plane to WDW instead of staying through this!

My BFF went there that same time...we went to the Grad when I would visit!!! Driving up to see her was always a PAIN in the rain! Have you been back to Davis, it is NUTS! Soo grown up/out!

Oh no - I wasn't - News was telling everyone to stay the heck at home, LOL! We have to go to a b-day party anyway...

"Interesting".... Sheesh! I'm all for positive spins but how about SCARY. THat's a good adjective!! :thumbsup2

My neighbor's cousin is visiting here from TX and they went to DLR today! Even I am not that crazy.;) I walked across the street and back a little while ago and my pants got soaked from the knee down. That was walking for about 2 mins. I can't imagine walking around DLR all day and being soaking wet and cold. So many of the rides don't operate in heavy rain. I'm thinking less than 1/2 of DCA rides would be open.

I am bummed since DD10 heads back to school on 2-1 and we have only visited DLR once this year. Also we were planning a trip to Monterey next week but looks like it'll be too rainy to go.

Honestly, I have to wonder WHY is Disneyland open when even MAIN STREET is flooded like that? What's the point? Wouldn't they rather concentrate on cleanup and making sure nothing gets damaged? Geez...let the profits slide for couple days... :sad2:

Oh dear...it is pouring right now - even more than it was yesterday!!:scared1: It is heavy and steady and the wind is howling outside!! It had quietd down for a little while, and then all of a sudden got super duper rainy and windy!
