Hello! Have WDW APs.... going back in late June and will be time to renew my AP... but am thinking since we are planning to go to DLR for the first time, finally, in August... that it would maybe be worth it to get the Premier Passport?

The cost of buying separate DLR tickets, versus the additional cost of the Premier versus my WDW AP - is pretty similar actually.
The plus to getting tickets - would be I need them for the kids also, and if book my trip with tickets, am assuming is then a "package" and will get my 6 months 0% on my Disney Visa - versus if book room only and buy the tickets there, then don't get that 0% with Disney Visa. I do like having that 6 months at 0%.

But.... since the price difference is really not much at all... do you think it would be worth it to get the Premier? My reasons would be.... would I get a % discount on dining at DLR? Looking to do a character breakfast every day, and a sit-down dinner each day - so yeah, will be pricey.
Is there a % off dining with APs? and if so... is it for all meals, or some weird blackout like if you dine between X and Y time you get a discount only?

Also... another consideration is wondering if also worth it to then get AP rate when booking.... would that be better than any general public deal?

We're looking at early August. still can't decide if want 4 or 5 nights. We are interested in Paradise Pier (may do BWPPI for first couple nights, then switch over to save some $)

I don't know if you know this, but Annual Pass holders at DL get discounts on Quick Service dining too! I was floored when I went to WDW and didn't receive a discount with my premier pass at the QSR restaurants. You'll make up any lack of savings with this alone. Plus you of course get the discount on full service restaurants, merchandise, hotels, just about anything you can think of (except outdoor vending carts. But don't worry, the churros are delicious enough to pay full price! lol)

I'm a DL girl, but when I did my WDW vacation in October, I just upgraded my pass to Premier like you are planning on doing. I liked it this way a lot because, say you get there mid day the first day, or leave a little late your last day. You can go in the parks without feeling you wasted park admission for a partial day. I loved this about having the AP in WDW. :)

That is probably why they wonder about the below.

This is a little tricky.

There probably won't be great deals during your visit if you don't want to stay a bunch of days. More often than not AP rates don't compete with the public offers. You may get lucky. When you are ready to book check the general rates, and call and ask for the AP rates. You can book the AP rate over the phone, and just need the AP in hand at check in to keep it.

Thanks for the info!

are character breakfasts included in the dining discount?

And currently get 10% off merchandise... the 20% would be nice... not only for DLR... but for WDW - which I'll be using that AP for our late June trip, our Nov 2012 trip... AND looking at March 2013 trip.... so 20% off merchandise would help with our WDW trips as well!

I think where I may lose out is in 2013 when it comes time to renew my AP... I will have to get a new AP for WDW and won't be able to get the renewal discount - as am assuming can't downgrade to just WDW pass at renewal time.

So have till late June when in WDW and comes time to renewing this one to decide if do the Premier!

SO thanks for the info!

Now to figure out how much time we'll need! We are saying this is a one-time trip to DLR - (funny, said that about WDW, and boy were we wrong about that!) But want to make sure we hit it all.. and more than once.
Bunch of rides WDW doesn't have - probably are 8 or 9 I've counted that I know we will ride 2-3 times each! Sit-down breakfast and dinner each day - counter service lunch.
Want fireworks twice... WOC - once or twice. And how to fit in Aladdin? - and one quick pool break, too! - and time to just find a bench in the parks and sit and relax and take it all in.
Want to do 4 nights - meaning 3 full park days - a tiny bit our arrival night - and probably not much our departure day. Not sure if want to do an extra night and have 4 full park days - if really NEED it - money wise would like to not do it.... or if we are there, just do that extra night, we may regret it if we don't?

I would recommend at least 4 full days, especially since Carsland will be open by the time you're planning to go.

Yes Character Meals allow for the AP discounts.

You can save more than the renewal discount on the DLR discounts. I'm sure you will with the discounts in the link I put in my other reply.

I would suggest 5 days. For what you want to do, and how much is different, and the Summer crowds. If you can go on weekdays not the weekends as that makes a difference during the Summer at DLR.

Thanks again - you guys are a great help.

Was going over everything we want to do, and stressing over fitting it in with 4 nights is not worth it - so 5 it is! That will give us 4 full days, plus our arrival evening - will be tired, but oh, no, we'll at least have to squeeze in a couple park hours - will be too excited not to!
