DLR Deal for Vets?

I know this is fairly new, but I was wondering if anyone has used the promotion with two vets in the family? My father and my stepmother are both veterans, so I was thinking we could do this for our six day trip:

My dad gets his 3 free days, and buys the $69 ticket for my stepmom and the 3 of us one day one.

On day four, my stepmom uses her 3 free days and buys the $69 ticket for my dad and the 3 of us.

I can't see anything in the rules as to why that wouldn't work, but I thought I would ask (we'll ask at ticketing before we buy as well). It will work out to be more expensive if we use the 3 day tickets for us, so we'd just buy 6 day park hoppers for the 3 of us if that won't work. Just trying to budget a bit in advance. If it works, it saves $36 a ticket (and $105 for each vet either way).

:cheer2: As a side note, what a nice promotion from Disney!

Considering they're both veterans, they might be able to do this.

But I believe they need to get their "complimentary" 3-day certificate and purchase the 3- day companion tickets at a participating military base ticket office, not at Disneyland.

The "complimentary" 3-day certificate would then need to be exchanged for a 3-day hopper pass at a Disneyland ticket booth, but I'm not sure about the companion tickets. The companion tickets could be actual "tickets", or they could be vouchers. It doesn't specify.:confused3

I'm just wondering how you find out which military bases are participating, if you can get tickets at other military facilities other than bases, and if this offer is just for retired "career" military, or is it for any retired military member who honorably served?

My dad served both during the Korean war and at the beginning of Vietnam, but he wasn't a "career" military guy, so he's wondering if he qualifies. He says that usually these specials are for active duty and retired "career" military personnel. He is a registered veteran, but I didn't have an answer for him about if he qualifies or not.:confused3

I'd like to know about this also..I'm a veteran, but didn't stay in long enough to retire (darn)

I posted this on the other thread too. Here's the link,

Disney Parks Celebrate U.S. Military With Free, Multi-day Admission to Theme Parks in 2009

I think you have to be either active or retired. If you scroll to the bottom and read the fine print, I believe it says a current active military person or retired. You would have to go to your closest base and show your military ID and they will give you vouchers and you take those vouchers along with your military ID to the ticket booth at DLR to get your tickets. I think if you wanted the 3 day PHs for family the military person with their ID would have to go with you to DLR to get the tickets.

Yep..thank you. I found that and read it. I didn't think it would apply to ANY vet..just retirees or active duty. Good deal for them though :)

My dad called the base closest to him and they have the tickets, so I guess that's really the only way to find out. But, just as an FYI to other Disers, Nellis AFB DOES have them (or did at the time my dad called). :goodvibes

Being ex-military I also checked this out and was told it was either active or retired. I do work for a contractor that is employed by the military/State Department and was told that this does not count.
Great benny for those that fit.

I think it great too for everyone that qualifies!:thumbsup2

It's too bad that vets don't qualify though. I mean, they DID serve their country proudly, many during times of war (Vietnam, Desert Storm, Iraq, Afghanistan). I don't know......I guess they have to draw the line somewhere, but still, it makes me feel that our vets are often forgotten and under appreciated.
