DLR Candlelight Processional

Hi all!

Can anyone give me any information how booking CLP works at DLR? Do you have to wait in a queue and hope they have a seat for you? Or like WDW, does DLR offer dining packages that then guarantee you a seat? I would really like to experiece CLP at DLR this December but there just does not seem to be alot of info out there on this event.

Last year, there were no packages offered to the general public. You could show up and line up and the early birds did get a few extra seats, otherwise it was standing room only.

That's exactly the reason why you're not seeing too much information about it - because there are no dinner packages sold to the general public anymore, so it's not something that is promoted much. Disneyland used to offer the packages, but then stopped doing it for whatever reason. At the recent D23 Expo, there was a Candlelight Processional package given away as a prize. Otherwise, the actual seats are pretty exclusive.

When I booked a hotel room for late November/early December many months ago, the Cast Member in the Special Activities office told me that the Processional seating had become a sort of 'you have to know someone who knows someone' situation in order to get tickets. She said that there are often no-shows (people with previously reserved seats and tickets), so the Cast Members will stand around and hand out the no-show tickets to guests right before the ceremony starts. But you kind of have to be there in the right place, at the right time, in order to get those.

Now aside from all that, people just stand around and line the street - the Processional weekend is notoriously crowded in the parks.

The Sunday performance was rained out in 2010. Possible weather cancellations makes selling expensive packages somewhat risky. D23 sold a $275 Candlelight package in 2009, but nothing in 2010.

Actually, candlelight is easy to experience. Show up a few hours before the performance and find a spot to stand. Candlelight does not appear on any Disneyland schedule (online or in the park), so many people who happen to be in the park don't know anything about it.
