I have the opportunity to go to Sweden in September 2007 for the Solheim Cup and was thinking about "hopping" over to Disneyland Paris for a few days before coming back to the States.

1. What is the weather like at DLP in Sept?
2. Is "hopping" from Sweden do-able?
3. Would anyone recommend making this side trip?

I've been to DL and WDW many times - is it worth the effort/travel time/cost to see DLP? I realize Sweden is not "close" but it is closer than the US :teeth:

TIA. Ellen

I tried to make this jaunt - stopover in Paris on two occasions - a trip that went US - Sweden - Germany - US, and now I'm doing US - Crete - Rome - US.

What I found on the first trip (included Sweden) - it was tough to get the planes/routing to take me into Charles DeGuille airport - and then to have the layover. I wasn't able to make it happen within the cost structure (my company was paying the trip, and it couldn't be any more than "normal" travel).

On this trip, it took over an hour at a travel agents, but I was able to book a flight that will allow me an extra "day" in Paris to visit DisneyLand. Cost me $100 US for the "delay", and a lot of layovers :cool1:

But I think it is worth it!!

Trying to go through expedia or one of those - the tickets were 2x the cost of what the travel agent was able to get me through a ticket broker.

Good luck!

(What part of Sweden - the people there are simply FANTASTIC and extremely friendly! I've been to Vaesteraas in the mid/north, and Minden, down on the southern tip.)

Weather at DLP in September could still be very nice depending upon the summer, but will obviously not be as warm as WDW :teeth:

Halmstad appears to be the location of Solheim cup. I imagine that you'll need to check practicality of getting from here to main airport in Sweden that schedules to Charles de Gaulle in Paris. This might be Gothenburg. :)

Whether to make the journey would depend how much time you can extend your trip from Halmstad.

for the replies. We plan on being out of the US for two weeks. Heading to Sweden a few days before the Solheim starts so we can see some sights in that area then, if possible, head to DLP for the next week.

Tentative:
Leave US on Sat before Solheim.
Solheim practice rounds start that Tuesday (I believe); Solheim competition is Friday through Sunday - travel to DLP on Monday; return to US the following weekend. So....we should have plenty of time. We are anticipating renting a car in Sweden so we should be able to fly in/out of any area airport.

Thanks for the airport specific info. We are just starting the planning process so I'm sure I'll have many more questions as I go along!
