DLP for Christmas (DAY!)

We are beginning to rule out Halloween at the moment (5yr old crying for duration of holiday = miserable Mum and Dad). OUr next option was Christmas - with the possiiblity of doing maybe a 3-4day break including Christmas Day.

Has anyone ever stayed for Christmas? Is the park open? What is the atmosphere like and is there such thing as a Christmas lunch?

I am not sure if this would be 2206 or 2007 or even if it is within our budget at the moment. But Christmas at home can be so dull (we are not big on family gatherings) that it is starting to sound more and more appealling!

Park is definitely open on Christmas day, not sure of the hours tho.
As for christmas lunch, you can book in for it at certain hotels, not 100% sure which but i think its DLH, HNY, HNPB and maybe HSL.

There mite be some info on the official site?

Would be a wonderful way to spend Christmas tho

Has anyone ever stayed for Christmas? Is the park open? What is the atmosphere like and is there such thing as a Christmas lunch?

We stayed last Christmas, the park was open 9am-8pm (Studios 9am-6pm). The atmosphere was absolutely magical, you have all the Christmas deccys up and you're in Disney, now you can't get a better combination than that!

There was a special Christmas lunch at the Steakhouse in the Village and at the Hotel New York, plus there was a lunchtime performance of the Magical World of Tinker Bell Show (food and fantastic show) at the Newport Bay Club. There is also a Character Christmas Buffet in the evening at the Hotel New York. However all of these have exorbitant prices, eg the Steakhouse lunch was £57 adult/£29 child and the evening buffet was £75 adult/£25 child. We decided it wasn't worth paying such high prices so just had an ordinary Character lunch at the Lucky Nugget in Frontierland. Although it was their normal buffet, they did have turkey on the menu and had loads of decorations up and there were crackers on the tables and we had a fantastic time. When the next official Disney brochure comes out (in June?) they will list all the special meals in there and restaurants that aren't listed usually just charge their normal prices for their normal menu.

We decided to treat ourselves because we had had a pretty tough time the previous Christmas (bereavements) and I am so so glad we went, it was really magical. I am a little afraid to go back for Christmas itself again just in case it is not so special!

Thank you I checked out the trip reports and it all sounds soooo lovely - I just HAVE to go!! I looked at the brochures for last year and hadn't realised it was so expensive for Christmas. It looks like we will not go until 2007 and I will have to save my Tesco vouchers like a woman posessed!!!
