We will be doing a day trip to DLP with DS10 and DD07. What would be the best character meal to book for either lunch or dinner?

We have always enjoyed cafe mickey but we have never tried inventions (on the list for the next trip). We didn't like the cowboy cookout but many people have had a great time there and it is a cheaper option.

We did Cafe Mickey Inventions and Auberge de Cendrillion on our last trip (2 weeks ago :( already ) Cafe Mickey was by far the best in my opinion!

We have done Auberge, CM and Inventions. They all bring different things to the table so to speak.

I think CM has great character interaction but have never rated the food or the service that much. It can be a reasonably cheap character meal though as you can just pick off the menu which can be priced OK. Looking at the ages of your children and the fact you have a girl and boy so need characters for them both, I would probably say CM.

Auberge is more for girls as it's Princess themed.

Cowboy Cookout might be OK too - haven't eaten there. If your DS likes Woody etc it might be a good one.

Recently people haven't liked Inventions so much. I liked it but I do think it depends on the characters you get which can be pot luck and it is expensive (it is also only a Sunday brunch or evening character meal).

When are you going? If the parks are quite quiet you might decide to just try meeting characters in the park and just grab a snack. As you only have one day, you might want to see as much as possible...?

DLP dreams-we will be there on the Friday before Easter. I was not planning to do a character meal but I did want the kids to do some meet and greet and get their autograph books signed but I had heard that the process was not as orderly as it is in WDW. I just wanted to be able to avoid all the pushiness and rudeness. However, with us living in Naples you would think we would be used to it.

cafe Mickey ,fab atmosphere and character interaction

really enjoyed our meal there on sat too

If you mean Good Friday, then there should be lots of characters out and about in the parks as it will be very busy. But, as a result, there will probably be lots of scrums/pushing etc . So, it is probably a good idea to do a character meal. I would strongly advise booking in advance too as you may find it is full if you don't :).

We've always enjoyed Cafe Mickey. It's the more memorable of the character meals that we've done. We've never tried Inventions though, mainly due to the extra cost.

We went in February for just one day too, and the parks shut at six. I couldnt decide between Cafe Mickey and Inventions for the evening, but Inventions swung it for me because the food sounded so much nicer and I felt it was worth paying a bit extra for. Im so glad we went there, the food was really good, so much choice, and the service really excellent. We never would have been able to stay at the disneyland hotel but having a meal there felt pretty special!

I would recommend going early, we had a table booked for 6.30, and when we walked in Mickey and Goofy were waiting for us at our table as we were the first ones there. We had amazing character interaction for the rest of the evening, it was expensive but worth every penny.
