DLP English Website Redesign

I couldn't see it mentioned here, but DLP's English website (not the French site!) has had a very substantial redesign. This also extends to the mobile version of the website, which has the MyMagic+ sidebars on the left.

It seems they've really tried to bring it into step with WDW and Disneyland California's websites. Not only that, they've rewritten all the English text with that American "Disney" style of writing - they've clearly had one of their copywriters re-write every single word. The original copy was written by someone fluent in English, but whose first language was probably French, and therefore had various stylistic imperfections:

Big Thunder Mountain - Old Copy said:
You’ll need to hold tight as this runaway mine train weaves wildly in and out of tunnels, across wind-swept sierras and even through rivers on a ride you’re sure to find a real blast!

The new copy is much improved:

Big Thunder Mountain - New Copy

There's a lot of stuff added, but also the writing style is completely different. (It's nice to see the back-story getting some official recognition, too!).

Although this may seem minor (who cares about a website!), I think this is really positive news for English-speaking Disneyland Paris fans. They're taking the English side of the marketing seriously and working to inject some of that 'Disney Magic' that often gets lost in translation for English visitors. Disneyland Paris' old English website didn't excite me at all - whereas this has been great fun to read.

It'll also have an impact, I hope, on lay-people who (wrongly) assume that Disneyland Paris is WDW's inferior cousin. The old English DLP website confirmed that view - and probably led to a lot of people booking holidays to WDW instead of DLP. The new website puts them more an equal footing.

This has been mentioned but within another thread - possibly the 'extraordinary meeting' thread. I agree, it is bringing it into line with the WDW & Disneyland website and at a guess, I think this is all linked to TWDC taking a much bigger hand in what happens at DLRP.

While the resorts are different, to me, it makes sense to have them portraying a sense of belonging together for some elements of brand identity etc. I think this is the first phase for a lot more to come tbh.

I think lots of changes are happening behind the scenes. No-one, least of all TWDC is going to want to have DLRP in the same position in 2024, so I think they are going to make a good stab at doing something about it. I dread to think what will happen if it isn't in a more financially stable situation by that time :confused3.

And yes, I think the new website is much, much better.

Having said all that, I recall doing a survey about the website about 2-3 years ago and I do remember there being a question about whether DLRP should have a more synonymous website to the other resorts!

On this trip we are staying at the Hotel Cheyenne, thought it would be a nice place to use as a base for Halloween and it's DWs favourite hotel.

We bumped into the Manger of the Cheyenne and the GM of the Resort Hotels in June and they gave us a tour of the herb and vegetable garden at the Cheyenne where they grow some of produce used in Bistrot Chez Remy, and told us about the planned refurbishment works the hotel is having. They asked us where we were staying on our next trip and we old him here in the Cheyenne in October, and he said he would ensure our stay would be extra special... So we do don't know what to expect when we arrive on Monday.

I like to stay at the Sequoia Lodge for our Christmas trips, so may be next year we will stay there for Christmas. Not tried the Golden Forest Club yet, and can't see the point now without the characters being there. The club room would be OK if you return to the hotel during the day to use it, but as we tend to have breakfast at 7am the main hotel resturants are quiet then anyway and we don't get back to our room until after the parade to get changed for dinner in the evening we would not use it.

For our stay next summer we are booked into an Admiral's Floor Lakeside Room at the Newport Bay Club and we plan on taking advantage of breakfast in bed some mornings.

Ooh I hope they keep to their word then. Have to say, the Cheyenne theming looks amazing.

We have only stayed at the DLH but this time we are trying the SQL GF as we liked the idea of the private breakfast and the characters (this is still on while we are there). I've always liked the look of the SQL inside especially as you say, at Autumn/Christmas :goodvibes. It is the one hotel I've wanted to try for a few years and when I read about the GF rooms when introduced, I thought I'd like to try them!

Maybe one day we'll try the Cheyenne! :thumbsup2 Let us know how you get on won't you?
