DLH-which tower?

My DH and I are staying at Disneyland Hotel for the first time in July and we are soooo excited! We are just 2 adults and I was wondering if there were any special room, floor, or building requests I should make. Are all of the towers the same or is one better?

The best tower is Bonita Tower. The rooms are really clean, and it has a waterfall outside of it. I think you should stay there.

We like to stay in the Sierra Tower and request a view of Downtown Disney and the Park. From that view, you can also see the nightly fireworks. The 'other side' of the hall, has a nice view of the pool area.

Since we've always stayed in Sierra, I don't know what other towers are like. DD and I are going in July......we requested Sierra tower......we'll see what we get! Sierra is also where the Concierge Lounge is located. We aren't booked at the Concierge level this time......figured with just the 2 of us, the additional cost isn't worth it. The room charge is the same whether there are 2 or 4 people......

IMO the Sierra tower is the best as far as view goes. You either get the pool view or a view of Downtown Disney. We had the pool view once, and it was very nice. We stayed in the Bonita tower last year and had a city view, but from the corner you could see DCA. Both rooms were very nice. I honestly don't mind the city view, of course I'll be thrilled if we get bumped up when we get there.

I also like the Sierra Tower for its views and location. However, you generally have to have reserved (and pay/paid) for a view room to get a room in this Tower. If you book a standard (city) view room, you will generally be assigned a room in the Bonita Tower or Marina Tower facing away from the pool area. I prefer the city views from the Marina Tower, which in some case provide partial views of DL and the fireworks. I also prefer the location of the Marina Tower since it is close to the lobby shops, and a little closer to DTD, DL, etc.

So, concierge is in Sierra Tower, and the lounge has view of the Disneyland fireworks and Downtown Disney too. Do some of the rooms on the side with park view all have fireworks view or should you go to lounge. In Sept and Oct wont the fireworks be visable on Friday and Sat and only if the park is open past what time???? Who has experience with this and making room requests???? Thanks for the helpful info!!

If you are in the Sierra Tower, theme park side you should be able to see the fireworks in varying degrees (depending on your floor). Even from my second floor room in the Sierra Tower, that had a palm tree in front of the window, I could see quite a bit of the fireworks. You mention going to the lounge so I assume you are paying for concierge, so you should have a fireworks view from your room. Off season, fireworks generally run on Friday and Saturday nights. On Friday and Saturday nights, year round the park is almost always open until 11:00 and midnight respectively with the fireworks usually being at 9:25. But nothing is ever set in stone or guaranteed, even if the schedule is showing fireworks for a certain night on your trip something can always change last minute. I hope that answers your question, I haven't stayed concierge but my understanding is that all of those rooms have theme park views, on an upper floor and are in the Sierra Tower. Somebody correct me if I'm wrong!

The concierge rooms can be booked with resort or pool views, if I remember the 2 choices. None listed city views, although I think the suites that are scattered around the resort can have concierge. The regular concierge rooms are in Sierra and you will be assigned a resort (theme park) view if you requested it so Sierra tower on one of a couple of upper floors. When I booked mine the price for the pool view concierge and the theme park concierge were the same price.

Thanks to all for the info you have given me. On the WDW DIS forums Ive read alot about room requests, Ive never made one , (feeling it is a request, no promises) is it worthwhile?? ?Anyone done it for a certain view??? Due to back problems I may be in room alot, plus I have a son with Downs who would love to wake up to the view , it will get him going quicker I hope in the morning. Any suggestions are really appreciated!!!

Ive never stayed in the Bonita Tower but I have stayed in the Sierra and Marina Tower...I totally love the Marina Tower...I guess for one, its the same building as the stores and lobby...my favorite area is 4th floor not too high or low and facing the pool...right smack in the middle

We had planned to stay in the Bonita Tower for the waterfall view and relative quiet, but after hearing about the long walk at the end of the day and that the rooms are pretty quiet (soundproofed) anyway, we might reconsider... The location of the coffee shop might make a difference!

You know I never noticed where the coffee shop is, I hope someone else can answer that for us!

We've found all the rooms that we stayed in to be super quiet. Which is just so nice. The only time we've heard something from a room next to us was when there was a door joining the rooms. And we only heard them in that bathroom area once I think. Still it beats what we had last year with people keeping us up all night staying offsite.

Yes, the "Coffee House" I believe is right next door to Goofy's Kitchen, very convenient to the Marina Tower. It's good for grabbing a pastry and coffee or juice in the morning.

I've also found the rooms quiet. We had a room very close to the elevator, 5th floor, Marina Tower, pool view. It was plenty quiet, and I tend to be pretty touchy about noise.

Remember, if you want a view room, you should book it. They cost more unless you are lucky enought to get an upgrade. Making requests is no problem (call ahead 2-3 days) as long as you understand requests are based upon availability, and that you shouldn't expect (or IMO request) a view that you did not book (i.e. Don't request a Sierra Tower DTD view when you booked a standard city view).

We always request the Sierra Tower DTD view and pay for it and still almost never get it. The pool view is nice but I am not sure it is worth the extra money although the kids like it. The waterfall view was really nice and I don't think the few extra steps are any big deal esp because you are walking over the waterfalls and they are so pretty at night and all lit up.

Finally this last trip June 9th, we finally got the DTD view on the 7th floor and while I loved seeing the fireworks from the room, the noise was almost unbearable. It was not like that the last time, years ago. I am just posting this to warn others because I had read that when you closed the sliding glass door, you could not hear it but that is WRONG! You can hear it all night long and really loud! Closing the doors and drapes doesn't block out the sound. It bothered my kids and most of all, me! I just don't know if the incredible view is worth it.

First you hear the music piped into the outside speakers in DTD, not too bad and they turn it off at around 10pm. Then, you can also hear the bands playing selling CDs competing with the piped in music. They too stop around 10 but on top of those, you hear ESPN spouting off sports talk ALL NIGHT LONG! Why do they do it all night long? I wondered if someone just "forgot" to turn if off the first night or two but we were there for 9 nights and it was every night! That was the worst and it woke me up a few nights at 5am with "special" louder announcements I think about the soccer world cup or something. And to top it all off, through the whole day and night you will hear "Blank, party of 5 your table is ready!" from Rain Forest Cafe and that goes all day and well into the night until they close.

I think that this is important to know when you make a request. We go again in Nov and have already reserved a "view" room but are not sure if that was worth the view or not....maybe we will ask for the bonita waterfall view again. Now that is "nice" noise and drowns out anything else plus they do turn it off like clockwork at either 10 or 11 each night. I loved having the door opened and hearing the rush of water and the kids loved watching the fish. Don't forget to go feed the fish on Tue or Thur at 9:30! Really fun!

If you payed and booked resort view, how did you not get it? There are different options to click....resort or pool. I can't believe you didn't get the view you payed for. There is a difference between requests and booking categories.

I've heard that about the DTD view too. I'm not sure it would be worth it, espeically if ESPN Zone is out there "talking" all night long! Goodness! As much as I like a good view, I also like my quiet when I sleep! Espeically with how tired I get when I'm there!

As far as paying for the view and not getting it, I think they look at it as you are still getting a view room, even if it is the pool view. To me that isn't the same thing, if I wanted to see fireworks and such! I guess they just base it on availability, but I would be disappointed if I paid for the resort view and got anything else.

We didn't pay for a view room this year, I'll be happy with whatever they give us. Even a city view is fine!
