I read it somewhere recently on the DIS (I think) that the Disneyland Hotel will be having a major renovation. Does anyone know when? Also, how is the renovation of Paradise Pier and CA coming along? I'd like to plan a trip sometime in the spring.

When I checked into to DLH for one night last week, I was given a Magic Tower room. I said I had really hoped for a Dreams Tower room....the check-in lady said very nicely that the Dreams Tower was half closed for renovations and they didn't have many rooms there right now...

I called yesterday to ask because we are staying there Friday. The girl said that there were a few rooms done, but would not specify where. She said from the outside you can't really tell that they are renovating. I hope she wasn't just blowing smoke so we would be upset. We were able to get very good rates. I hope that is not an indication of the construction going on.

*Last week* from the outside of Dream you couldn't see anything going on. There were no visible rubbish bins or construction workmen walking around at all; no barriers up either.

*Last week* there was no water in Paradise Pier area and it did not look like they were close to finishing either.

Disney is quick with the construction walls. Half of the tower was walled off on Thursday AM and the wall was fully painted by the evening. There s a walled compound for supplies between the tower and Downtown Disney but it is off by the Alamo location so it is out of the way. They are using the rooms overlooking the Californian parking lot to get the materials in. An elevator has been attached to the outside of the building and they removed the windows from all the end rooms. Looks really weird as the furniture is still in the rooms. Being from a place with bugs and rain, it looks bizarre.

That being said, the construction in no way diminished my stay.

I'll be very interested to see what room we get when we arrive Saturday, September 26th. I paid for DLH high floor DTD view and the CM I spoke with last week confirmed that room assignment.

thanks for all your replies. Are they giving any dates as to the completion?

Talked to a manager and he said that the top three floors are closed and are being worked on now. You can clearly see that they are working on the Dreams tower facing the pool area. When I looked up yesterday they had the rooms completely gutted and the sliding doors and railing were removed. The "hole" left by the door was covered with a black tarp.

Today around 5AM local time, I went for a little walk in the Magic tower and to my suprise on the second floor I found the hallway mock-ups for the refurbishments. There was a little section down the hallway that had two different lighting fixtures and blue wallpaper. One of the doors had been changed. If this is what the hallways are going to look like, then I am excited for the improvements. Here have a look:

The pictures arn't the best, but you can get an idea of how it looks.

thanks! It looks a little bit like the Yacht and Beach Club hallway at WDW. Very nice.

I am currently staying at the Disneyland Hotel, in the Marina tower overlooking the pool. I can assure you that quite a bit of construction is going on over at the Sierra tower. There are some empty holes in the buildings where rooms once were. There appear to be quite a few finished rooms as well (blue window tint, no balcony, etc).
