DLH room occupancy questions!!!

Not to add fuel to the fire, but I am just curious. If this is against code, how does Disney get away with having 5+1 bedding in their rooms. I am not as familiar with the rules in California or in Anaheim, and am more familar with how DVC resorts work, but in Florida you can always have the room capacity + 1 under the age of 2. Is this not the case in California? Like I said, it doesn't really apply to me, we'd never have a need for even 5 in a room, but I am just curious if this is something that is different about California VS Florida with the fire laws. It does seem strange to me that any hotel would have bedding for 6 if it's illegal to house 6.

Yes regulations in California are much different than in Florida. Our fire code is very...strict. In terms of the bedding, all I can think is that it is intended as an "or" situation: you have the two beds that hold up.to 4 people and you can use the couch bedding OR the pack 'n play. The other thing is that sometimes only 1 person sleeps.in a bed and then 1 on the couch and then one in the pack 'n play. I'm still surprised (and sorry) that anyone ever said they could have an infant as a 6th. I am glad the OP looked for verification so they know the real deal.

I also wanted to address one other thing that Tanner208 mentioned at the start of the thread, and that is in regards to the "DLH experience everyone raves about."

I would venture to say that there are many people who do not rave about the DLH experience, or about staying onsite at all. There appear to be 3 'camps' when it comes to the subject of staying onsite:

1) Those who have no desire to stay onsite because they feel that staying onsite is not worth the hefty price, and will only stay off-property. The hotel is only a place to sleep and shower, and that's it;

2) Those who are onsite-only people, and will always choose to stay at one of the onsite hotels at Disneyland Resort because it enhances their overall trips. They take the time to enjoy the rooms and enjoy the hotel offerings; and

3) Those who may try staying onsite once or twice, just to see if the experience is any better or different than staying off-property. They may or may not enjoy the DLR hotels, but ultimately end up going back to staying off-property for future trips.

It's a largely subjective thing, I feel, and we all kind of make certain things higher priorities based on our own preferences, and those things may not be priorities for a different group of people. Those of us who are onsite people -- and there are many of us -- know the happy feeling we get when returning to the GCH, DLH or PPH at the end of a long day, or for a midday break. We know that, for us, staying onsite -- in the middle of the Disney bubble -- just enhances our overall trips immensely.

However, there are plenty of people who are in the 3rd camp that I mentioned above -- they may try staying onsite to see what it's like, and end up leaving with the feeling that it was not worth it and they don't understand what all of the fuss is about.

Staying onsite is definitely not for everyone -- some folks will just simply prefer staying at a non-Disney property for a lot of valid reasons. Thankfully, there are plenty of people who do that very thing -- stay offsite -- because if everyone were staying onsite, there would never be any rooms available!

Tanner208 -- Be sure to report back after your trip and let us know how your DLH stay went. I hope it is a wonderful experience for you and your family!:goodvibes:cheer2:

SO TRUE!!! :thumbsup2 Thanks Sherry E!!! :hug:

We have stayed at the DLH and the GCH with 2 adults, 3 kids and 1 infant before. We didn't sneak the infant in and the hotel offered us a pack n play at check in.
I am sorry you are having this issue.
We can no longer afford to stay at the resort hotels as we would need a suite or 2 rooms. We are greatful for the times we did get to stay there.
Good luck to you and your family.
