Can anyone tell me the best time to check in at DLH? We will be flying in to LAX late at night and staying near the airport our first night.

I didn't think we'd be able to check in at DLH until 3:00 the following day, but I've seen others report that they checked in much earlier. If it makes a difference, it will be a Monday that we're arriving at DLH.

Thanks!:flower3:

Front desk is always open (someone correct me if im wrong). You could check in at 3 AM but your room wont be ready until 3 PM. Its not a matter of checking in, its the matter of actually getting your room. Many times I make the drive and arrive at 7 am and they give you a number to call around 2:30-3:00 p.m. to see if your room is ready early.

Sometimes they DO have the room ready before 3pm. Last April we arrived at 8:30am after staying at another hotel in a nearby city. We had planned on just pre-checking in and leaving our luggage with them. But when I went to the front desk she said they had a room ready for us and gave us our room card! I certainly wouldn't count on it happening all the time but it can happen - although usually not quite THAT early in the day. :)

Yeah your right they sometimes do have rooms open early. Although you were very lucky to get a room at 8:30 A.M! Sometimes when mousekeeping is done cleaning the rooms after check out rooms start popping up between 12-3 P.M. Also in some instances the hotel is not booked and can present you a room early! Have fun and enjoy your trip!!!

I have to also throw in my two cents that sometimes the rooms are ready MUCH earlier than 3 p.m. In fact, I don't think I have actually had to wait until 3 p.m. for a room any time, at any hotel! Even during the busiest time of year, our room was still ready about 90 minutes before 3 p.m. And during the 'off-peak' season, you might be able to go right to the room when you check in! The Reservations people have to tell you that 3 p.m. time frame to cover their tracks in case housekeeping is being slow, but usually the room is open well before that but people do not always know it.

September of 2007, we stayed at PPH, checked in at 12 noon and the room was ready right then. Last December, around Christmas, we stayed at GCH and got there about 6:30 a.m. That was a perfect time for me, as NOBODY was waiting in line at the front desk, so the CM took her time with me, gave me special little Million Dreams treats, birthday pins, the whole nine yards. We took care of all of the paperwork and red tape then, and I walked off with our room keys in hand. So, unlike in the old days, where you would have to go back to the front desk to pick up your keys and room number even if you had already checked in, we never had to go back to the front desk for any reason again. They have really streamlined the whole process to make it more convenient and efficient for guests. All we did was call a number she gave me and ask if the room was ready yet. As soon as we got the green light, we went to the room to rest. If we had had to go back to the desk early afternoon or at 3:00 to get all that, we would have been waiting in a line of people who thought they had to wait until 3 p.m. to check in! My advice - get there as early as you can to check in and get all that taken care of so you don't have to interrupt your day and go to the hotel and take care of it later in a long line.

Also, if you have any special requests like number of beds in the room or location/view of the room, you should know that they honor special requests on a first come, first serve basis at all three hotels, so essentially, the earlier you check in, even if your room is not ready for you yet, the more likely you are to get your special requests met!

Wow! I'm so glad I asked. We'll approach the day in a whole new way knowing we can check in at any time. I completely understand that our room might not be ready until later, but to get everything taken care of early and have our room key (card) in hand will make a huge difference!

Thank you so much!:flower3:

It really did make a difference for us. I remember how those crowds form at the check-in/front desk area around 12 p.m. - 3 p.m., and it was a pain to have to interrupt what we were doing in the park, schlep back to the hotel, wait in that line even though we had already checked in hours earlier and get the keys/room number. So when I was at GCH last year at 6:30 a.m. and saw that she was giving me my keys right then, I was very relieved. All we did was call the number she gave me later in the day and went to the room when we wanted, and never had to even go near the front desk again!

Thanks for the early check in info...we are going to drive late in the evening and get to DL early in the A.M. We'll definately get all checked in...right away...and request a room facing the Neverland Pool! Can't wait!!

If you haven't done it already, I would put in the request now for the pool view on the phone, and then they honor the special requests on a first come, first serve basis, so if you were to show up very late, then you might lose out on the view to other people who requested similar rooms. But you want to get your request in their system now, so you can sort of 'get in line' for the rooms with the pool views and then they sort of give them out based on who requests first, who shows up to check in first, etc. Since you will be checking in very early, then you will likely get the room you want, but just make sure they know now!

We checked in around 8:30 am (had been at DL all week already). Our room was ready, but it wasn't something we were expecting.

I think getting there early is best, just in case it is a first come first serve basis on the good rooms! :)
