Is 400.00+ a night really worth it for DLH, so i just check a room for me and my DS and his DGF and it came to 1600 for for 4 nights!. We where planning for the 3rd to the 7yh of July:cool1:. Is it worth it?, it looks like i could go out side the Disney Family and get two rooms at that price. I have always wanted to stay at the DLH, and would spend the money but wanted to see if it would be worth it?

If you really want to stay there, maybe do one night there and the rest of the nights offsite. I wouldn't pay $400 to stay at DLH, but we had a bad experience the last time we were there. The water in our room didn't work, and the bathroom was covered in black mold. We called the front desk and they told us there was nothing that they could do about it. They wouldn't even let us check out and give us a refund.

I understand that sometimes you get a bad room, and that's not a big deal for me, but the way that they handled it was what was problematic for me. Black mold is a major safety issue, and if I'm paying $300+ a night for a hotel, I expect better customer service.

ya that's what I am affarid of, but i do not want to just stay one night, if we stay i want it to be all four nights

Depends on what " worth it" means to you. You are the only one that can answer that question.

The rooms are high in the middle of summer cuz they WILL get fully booked. It's of course cheaper to stay at a neighboring hotel, but I feel it all comes down to your definition of "worth". You get the experience of staying on property, easier access to the parks, and the magic hour if that matters to you. Maybe check the Paradise Pier hotel, it's cheaper than the DLH. GC will be the most expensive.

I worked the front desk at DLH and PP for a while and I don't buy the previous comment about the CM's doing nothing about it. I admit we all have bad days, and maybe they caught their CM ona bad day, but there's no way that management would've ignored the complaint. Even in the busiest season, each of the hotels keep appx. 5% of the room vacant for such emergencies, so being moved out of your room for any legitimate reason is quite possible.

$400 a night? Wow.

I love amusement parks - and Disney in particular - but $400 a night for a "nice hotel" in suburban L.A. is mind boggling.

Let me put that price in perspective:

My brother, his wife and their kids had an ocean front condo rental on Maui for $275 a night.

My hotel suite (with fireplace, full kitchen, and luxurious bathroom) in the Old Town section of Montreal was $215 a night last summer.

A friend of mine just got back from Paris. She had a spacious, top floor hotel room with a stunning view of the Eiffel Tower for about $275 a night, and that included breakfast.

No matter how I think through the process, $400 a night for a hotel room is far beyond what I would pay unless the perks are so over-the-top it would justify it.

How much time are you going to spend in the room? The only time our family spends in the room is when we are sleeping. We are usually at the parks from 8:00a to 11:00p. Sitting around a hotel, swimming in a pool? I can do that anywhere and don't need to go to Anaheim for that.

Ya I know the price tag for everything at Disney Is over the top. The DLH has always carried this kind of mystic fantasy about it!, ever since i was a little boy the DLH has been like Cinderellas castle to me. I am most diffidently more familiar with WDW these days, we go every year but DL was the first Disney park i went to as a kid, and the first Disney park I took my DS to. Every time I look at the DLH as that untouchable place i have always wanted to goto. Your right, i am the only one really that will find value in it, no matter how much it is. I guess i was looking for someone who seen it the same way i have, did it and was it what they imagine. I have herd the rooms are no better then a best Western?, i think would want to keep my dreams the way they where, then be pop with realty if thats what they turn out to be!. In that case i would stay at GC in that case

Rooms are much nicer than a Best Western especially since the refurb in 2011. Worth $400 though? No but $200-$300 yes. It is supply and demand. Carsland and EMH have upped the value of staying onsite and the hotels are full.
We were there last week and I checked the rates of offsite hotels for curiosity. The Howard Johnson was $205- now that is a 2 star at best and a crazy price for a "budget" hotel. So comparatively $400 is reasonable if the Hojo can get $205.

Everyone will have a different opinion about this, but for me, it would be no. I would stay offsite.

That said, there are distinct advantages to staying onsite. They have an amazing pool complex at the DLH, and you are the only people who get to take the monorail to early entry at DLP. DLR hotel guests are the only ones who get early entry to DCA--a big advantage with CarsLand. The question is, are these features worth the extra money to you? Proximity is not the issue at DLR that it is at WDW. In truth, the Park Place Inn is closer to the parks than the Disneyland Hotel, but the early entry is a plus.

Whatever you decide, however, have a really great trip!

You could do a Deluxe Studio Villa at GC for $1508 free and clear by renting DVC Jul 3 - 7.

For me everything at Disney Is worth It:love:. Disney is like going to your grandmas house(i never new my Grandmas but its what i would think it is like), that warmth and Happiness you just can not get anywhere else. I did not know they did a refurb at DLH that's good to know. Thanks everyone i think i will go with staying on site, and more then likely at DLH, it will be a bucket moment

I just got back yesterday from a 4 nigh stay at the DLH. Even though my rates were a lot lower than $400 a night I thought it was totally worth it. Our party consisted of DH, DD2, and myself. We loved the convenience of going back to the hotel for DD's nap and hopping to the monorail to get back to DL. We didn't take advantage of EMH because we were ready at 9 am every day but that is a nice perk!!

I am so glad to hear your trip went well, did you think that the rooms where bigger then say a norm motel/hotel room?. So me and my DS are avid coffee drinkers, do they have coffee pots in the room along with fridges. I can see us using the monorail in the Morning but we more then likely would walk back at night. How are the crowds getting on in the Morning?

We spent 6 nights there last week (paid less than $400 per night though) and yes there is a coffee maker and a fridge in room. The rooms are a decent size. Ours had 2 queen beds and a double sofa which I think folds out. We were in the Fantasy tower parking lot view but you could see the fireworks from our room (the high ones anyways as you could not see the castle as there were trees in the way).
There was a bit of a lineup at the monorail in the mornings. The only stop is in Tomorrowland so it is great if you are wanting to start there.

We stayed there after the renovation and the rooms are way nicer than a Best Western! I thought they were gorgeous and very spacious. I'd rather stay at the Disneyland Hotel than any deluxe resort at WDW. It is truly magical. We've had such bad experiences staying offsite across the street that we decided to try it and we will not be looking back. It is well worth the extra $ for our family.

As you can see in my signature I stay at the DLH hotel alot lately. :lmao:

No, the rooms are not like the best western, they are a lot more classy than that. They are lovely. Dark woods, nice rich colours, and very clean, and the linens are high quality, not scratchy, pillows are very comfy.

Is it worth $400.00 a night? To me it is, but then again the most I paid for a standard room in the last year was $290.00. You have to look for the few and far between deals, and try to go on a so called "off season" if possible.

Having said that, if you do decide to splurge, you will like it
