DL vs. MK

I have never been to WDW. I grew up in Northern CA and have been to Disneyland too many times to count. DH and I even had our honeymoon there. We LOVE taking our two sons to Disneyland and have never even thought about going to DisneyWorld. I know so many people love it, and some like it a lot more than DisneyLand. But, for us, for now...we're sticking with the original!

And, I had no idea there are rides at DL which are NOT at DW! I just assumed since DW is bigger, they had everyting DL has and more! I would be so disappointed to go there and find some of my favorite rides, in Fantasyland, missing.

DH and I are not ones for change, especially since we love DL so much. Maybe one day we'll feel adventurous and try WDW! LOL

I just went to WDW for the first time, and even though DL is "better" than Magic Kingdom at WDW. WDW has 3 parks that DisneyLand Resort doesn't have. So it may be worth it to go to WDW for the other parks.

There are many features I like about both...MK is more spacious and more isolated. You feel immersed in Disney anywhere in WDW, while the outside world seems to encroach on DL a little bit more. Cindy's castle blows Sleeping Beauty's out of the water.
With all that said, MK will never be anything more than a copy of DL. DL is a classic and the foundation of the entire Disney theme park empire. Even though I go to DL at least once a month (live close with AP), every time I go, I really feel the history of the park, but at the same time it stays current enough to keep me coming back.

It's been 5 years since we were at DL once. And we live near WDW, so we go often.
Of course the castles are no comparison. ;) Cinderella married into a wealthier family evidently. :rotfl2:
I remember the first time we saw DL's castle. I thought of our first house that was a story and a half. But DL has a cute castle.
Some rides are better at DL than MK -- PotC, the Indy ride (comparable to AK's Dinosaur ride), HM.
It is great to be able to park hop at DL and walk to DTD. Everything is a short walk away. Very convenient.
But I like WDW best and glad I live here.
I was also surprised at the lack of gift shops, or dinky gift shops at DL. I never thought I would WANT a gift shop until I realized how they were better positioned and marketed at WDW.

Oh -- and Toon Town at DL is GREAT!

When you are ready to try WDW, make sure you get reservations at Shades of Green, the armed forces rec hotel. It is fabulous !

I have been to WDW over 20 times but never been to DL. But ya DL has innoventions, Star Tours, and HISTA all in Tomorrowland. But WDW has them all in either MGM or Epcot and Animal Kingdom is a added bonusplus the 2 water parks!!!! So i would not go to WDW just because MK doesn't have more than DL. WDW altogether has almost everything DL has plus a whole lot more so take them to orlando you want regret it

The way I see it, there are 4 Disneyland's; California, Paris, Tokyo, and now Hong Kong. There is only one Magic Kingdom, that alone makes it special. But why do the comparisons have to come up between DL and WDW, they're both Disney, which makes them both very special to all of us. Now, if you want to start comparing Disney parks to non-Disney parks, that would be quite a discussion. JMO :sunny:

yes it would, i thought it would be cool to get in a forum war with universal fans
