I am considering a VGC contract. I understand the ToT is covered by VGC dues unlike VDH where you pay the additional ToT per night based on points used.

My question is can anything change with VGC contracts and the agreed ToT discount? Could the city of Anaheim change it's mind and have dues skyrocket or could an additional ToT ever be charged like VDH on top the amount already paid via dues?

If Anaheim could have changed it they would have. That said, anything is possible.

That's a good point. I was hoping there may have been some language in the contracts that it can't happen, but like you said anything is possible!

I am trying to plan a 2026 DL trip. Room rates haven't been released yet, but I know the price will easily be 1k+ per night cash and part of me says why not just buy a contract and put that money towards it? This also assumes it passes ROFR 🙄

I’m sure @Sandisw will come in and drop the contract knowledge on us. I really hope the answer is no they can’t. But as Astro said I feel like if they could they would have already.
That's what I need! It would make me feel much better knowing something was in writing. I tried researching it tonight and read plenty about the pricing and comparisons with VDH, but not any official legal contract terms.

I think often about the $5500 I spent staying cash at VDH one month before I decided to join DVC and how I could’ve put that towards buying a contract.

It's ok, we're learning from our mistakes! I had years of WDW deluxe stays under my belt before I finally purchased points. I don't want to calculate how many points that money would have equated to. Thankfully it was always an AP/discounted rate and not rack rate.

As a new AP holder I was shocked at how good that discount was recently. For the CCV stay cash would’ve been cheaper with the AP discount. But if it’s weren’t for DVC I personally would’ve never considered an AP so it’s a big circle.

Understandable! The discounts made the DVC math a little fuzzy. I actually got tired of hunting the promotions or trying to apply them to a reservation when 6 of the 7 nights counted. It was always a pain. I did get some great deals though.

I don't have a MK and the discounts for DL seem to be much stingier than WDW.

Yep never usually over 30% often just 15% and never on Friday or Saturday. Hopefully sandi has good news!

We paid cash for a 2 bed villa at BCV at Christmas one year…I believe it may have cost more than my entire eventual BCV contract. 🤪

(admittedly my contract doesn’t have enough points cover a week in a 2BD at Christmas, but I get pretty close in a studio!)

I can't answer your question but I just want to say....yes...buy some VGC so I can live vicariously through you on the ROFR thread. 🤣

Even better if you take the contracts out there that are in my UY and taunting me. 😁

I believe it is the case that the VGC rate was negotiated before opening and cannot be changed. Which is one of the reasons I wanted to buy it specifically as my DL resort
Yes, I feel the same exact way! I saw in 2023 it was $0.51 in dues per point? Compare that to the cash side or the VDH ToT chart and it's a fraction of the cost! I'd take the higher purchase price and guaranteed lower ToT, but I am hoping it's guaranteed 🙈

I have not read the VGC contract like I have other ones but from what I do remember, the way it is set up it’s formula can not all of a sudden be changed.

IIRC, it was a deal made with the city for the rate…and, Disney declined some situation which is why VDH doesn’t have it.

@DonMacGregor provcbly has a better take!!
That's my hope! I have to find the VGC contract online and peruse to see what it says. It would make me feel better to see it in writing.
