Has anyone done a tour at Disneyland? We have already signed up for the Segway tour (we have done both at WDW and loved it) but I was wondering if any other tour is worth doing?

TIA

We did the "Welcome to Disneyland" Tour in 2005......get your running shoes on for this one!!! Lots of great information thrown at you as you maneuver thru both parks. We got some bonus FP's at the end of the tour & PS for a meal at a sit-down restaurant. We had a large family group that did this, ranging from a 3 yr old in a stroller to grandma. Our group tended to be wide-spread as our tour guide (in heels) out ran the entire group. Still fun, but very fast paced.

We did the "Walk in Walt's Footsteps" Tour last March. Loved it!!!! We love Disney trivia & history & we learned a ton of new stuff on this tour. You stay in DL for the entire tour & are shown interesting facts about each part of the park. You even get to walk thru the door at Club 33.....you get to stay in the lobby & learn the history of this exclusive club. At the end of tour, you are treated to a lunch in their picnic area behind the tour guide building. It was very good!!

I am curious what you signed up for as your signature says you are going to DLR in August and tours are only booked 30 days in advance?

In any case, I too am interested in the DCA Segway tour (in July) and had an e-mail exchange with Disney Vacation Planning this week. They advertise a 7:15AM start time for a 3 hour tour. When DCA opens at 10AM that seems to work. But what about the current spate of 9AM openings? So I asked DVP about it.

Here is what they said despite the fact that I asked how the 9AM opening would affect the tour:

Thank you for your email. Yes! The Cruzin' Disney's California Adventure Tour begins prior to park opening at 7:15 am. Here are further details on all park tours... All ticket orders are taken by phone only, with credit card information given at that time.
Best Regards,
Disney's Vacation Planning Office

Here was my replie (I wanted to get them to pay attention to the real point of my question being the 9AM opening):

Thank you for the prompt reply! So on days like today, April 15, when DCA opens at 9AM, the tour group on segways must be riding through the crowds of regular visitors that come in at 9AM? Is that dangerous for walkers or Segway riders?

and this was the second reply:

Thank you for your e-mail. There are no Cruzin Tours scheduled for today or the rest of this week because of the early entry into DCA .
Tour's can be reserved 30 days prior to the tour date.
Please let us know if we can assist with any other request.
Best Regards,
Disney's Vacation Planning Office
Note that I see on DLR's calendar that DCA is scheduled to open at 9AM on numerous days between now and the end of May. So what happens to folks who signed up for the Segway tour today when DCA opened at 9AM? Did Disney just cancel them and give a refund? :confused3

Further, Al Lutz has reported that with WoC opening (see my signature line on Wolrd of Color) that PP rides will be closed early for WoC (presumably be 8PM) and to compensate for this the PP rides may open even earlier than the rest of DCA. I guess we will find more about this by May 11 when we get within 30 days of the WoC debut. :confused3:confused3

From what I understand....the Segway tour is done before opening of the park, as to not have people riding on them & weaving thru people. Not sure how early they're willing to go with the early opening hours......

But if the park opens at 9AM will they start the tour at 6:15AM? Or cancel it on those days? Right now it appears they are canceling it. :confused3

That's a bummer! We've never been able to do this one because of the large gap in ages in our group (2yrs to 48yrs). I don't remember ever seeing them going on when we've done DCA at opening....so not sure what they're going to do. Hopefully it doesn't get boxed up & sent to WDW like the DEP is.... ;)

When we did the Segway tour last September, the last part of riding the Segways was up and down Hollywood Boulevard up to the ropes that people were waiting behind for 10:00 opening. It was kind of fun to ride right up to the people, you could tell a lot of them didn't know about the tour and wondered who the heck we were.

My TA said she was going to book it for me today. I didn't know about the 30 day thing and I'm sure she didn't either.

I am also curious about these early entries to CA and how they affect the tour. To be honest, I knew about Magic Mornings, but thought that was just for Disneyland. I'm new at DL..big time. But so looking forward to it.:cool1:
