From MiceAge:
OK, this is no April Fools.

Word this week from Disneyland's Facilities department is that walls will be going up around the old Motorboat Cruise area by Monday morning. They'll be draining that swampy section of Fantasyland in April, and since that old ride closed over a decade ago who knows what they'll dig up.

But those construction walls won't stop at the Motorboat Cruise. A WDI source is confirming that by the time our regular update goes online next week the construction walls will be continuing all the way south around the Submarine Lagoon, and that's when the real fun will begin (as well as some heated on-line speculation, no doubt).

This is indeed the beginning of the rumored Finding Nemo version of the submarines that we've been telling you about for quite some time. We'll fill you in next week with more details about what is going on behind those new walls, and what will be next for the areas formerly occupied by the Submarine Voyage and Motorboat Cruise.
Keep those fingers crossed...

Rumor I had heard was that Mikey had killed the subs. That all it was was a ploy to keep the AP holders happy.

We shall see, I'll be their saturday.

The Motorboat area isn't doing anything but being scenery anyway.

While my fingers are crossed just as tightly as Sarangel's, I find the timing a little odd. At the onset of the 50th celebration, are construction walls really what you want on display ?

Of course, this could also be a great marketing ploy. Since DL will hopefully enjoy a year or so of massive attendance maybe people who are only coming for the 50th will be interested in returning in a year or so to see what was behind the wall.

Ive only been to DL twice and that was a few years ago... what is the motorboat cruise? Im guessing that its not 20k leagues (or maybe it is and i was aware they called it that) but the only other boat ride I remember was in fantasyland and you rode thru little displays of the animated movies and such and go thru the whales mouth (i cant remember its name but its from pinochico)... is that what that is?

That's storybook land and Monstro.

No, the motorboat cruise is exactly what it sounds like. Think Autopia, but with boats. It was next ot the Sub ride.

So, I went briefly last night, but I never even made it to that side of the park except on the train(the new track is nice), I didn't see anything through the Auopia, but then, that would be hard to do.

Jungle cruise is down for the pruning though.

Incidently, Last night was the last fireworks display until May 5th. It was a weak display basically, they took the original Fantasy in the Sky, removed Tinkerbell, and instead of the patriotic Finale, they had the finale from Imagine.

Also, One of the Railroad Conductors told me that he had seen parts of the Ward Kimball back in the shed, but that the engine was offsite, we shall see.
